[テンテン]創刊のご挨拶 はじめまして、10．編集部と申します。10．は、東京に住む様々な国籍・人種のエディター、デザ イナー、 学生、 翻訳家などのプロジェクトグループが作っている月刊誌です。 「テンテン」 とお読みく ださい。 10． のコンセプトは、 ズバリ 「人」 です。 「人はみんなそれぞれのストリーがある」 、 それを伝えたいと いう素朴な発想から始まりました。 仲間を集め、 工夫した結果、 シンプルで読みやすい10問答の フォーマットと、 日本人はもちろん外人にも読んでいただくため、 日本語と英語を中心とした多言語 のインタビュー雑誌が生まれました。 そして雑誌名も、英語のten、日本語の点、合わせて 「10． 」 としました。発行は毎月10日です。発行される都市は主に東京ですが、 その他に、パリ、 ソウル、 シドニー、サンフランシスコなど、9～10都市にも配信予定です。 10． は、 できるだけ多くの人たちに読んでいただくため、 フリーペーパーとして創刊します。 編集者 は全員ボランティアで、 インタビューに応じてくださるのも、 この10． のポリシーをご理解くださってい る方たちです。 10．が長く続けられるよう、心からの応援お願い致します。 10．編集部一同

Welcome to the inaugural issue of 10. Magazine! Our multi-national, multi-lingual, multi-talented team appreciates your interest and support. 10. [pronounced “tenten”] Magazine began from a single concept – that of a “people-focused” publication. The format followed accordingly: simple, easy-to-read, always bilingual, multi-lingual when possible, 10 questions, 10 answers, an exploration of the shape and nature of interviews.

The magazine name: the English number, the Japanese punctuation, and much more – together, they are “10.”. So of course, look for us to hold an event on the 10th of every month where you can easily pick up a copy of the magazine.

As we began in Tokyo, our main focus is the Tokyo-area and Japan in general. However, our readers’ interests are broad and wide – as are our’s – and we may be found interviewing in and investigating in cities such as Paris, Seoul, Sydney, and San Francisco. Futhermore, in order for our audience to be as broad and wide as possible, we are a 0 yen publication and our editorial team works solely on a volunteer-basis.

We hope that you’ll continue onto the next page, attend our next event, and altogether enjoy 10. Magazine!

I am a dancer and performer. If you ask me what genre, contemporary dance may be the closest to what I do.

You don’t appear to have any difficulties communicating with people from other countries. What culture do you think suits you best?

It’s not that I don’t feel any obstacles.

find it difficult communicating and expressing myself directly, I even say and do things just to avoid conflict sometimes.

I’m writing a music column for Yes24.com [a Korean website].

CAROL, Kyu Sakamoto, and Group Sounds - a band from the 60s.

5. Is there any particular motto you follow?

“Without confidence, I’m as good as garbage.”

6. What do you do when you have time off?

Eat, and then eat some more.

7. When you come to Japan, do you have somewhere you always go?

I always go check out the lions at Fuji Safari Park.

8. How do you compose your music? In what setting do you find easiest to create?

When I’m lying on a futon spread across my floor, and I can lose myself in my imagination.

as I have enough cigarettes, pens and paper!

9. What do you think is the best part about forming a band?

When you get into a fight, you always have back up, so you never lose.

10. What can we look forward to from you in the future?

I’m thinking of changing the band uniform, for one. (grins) In September 2009, we released our [The Moonshiners’] debut album. As that was a super-ambitious double album with a whopping 30 tracks on it, we’re on hiatus for the time being.

For the end of 2009, we did a charity performance with two bands (Galaxy Express and Kingston Rudieska), and from 2010 we plan to start fresh by unveiling a brand-spanking new image for the band.

Our fans will also be happy to know that we’ll be continuing our club performances.
