President’s Welcome
Hello and welcome players, officials and supporters to A.J. Kelly Park.
Today we welcome QAS (Women) and Olympic (Men) for matches in the National Premier Leagues Qld.
Last weekend both teams recorded wins away. The Women travelled to Lions and came away with a 2-1 win. A very tough place to win and the girls showed tremendous effort and determination to get the three valuable points.
The Men travelled to Sunshine Coast and came away 3-1 winners. Excellent start from the team which set up the win. It was also our Head Coach Aaron Premier League game in charge. Aaron’s record in the Premier League is second to none and is our clubs most successful coach since entering the NPL in 2019.
Having won Back to Back NPL Queensland Premierships in 2020 and 2021, Football Qld Coach Of The Year and many other achievements we thank you Aaron for all your dedication and commitment to our club that you played for as a junior and senior.
Our Club Great Day Out is tomorrow with a trip to watch the NRL Dolphins v Gold Coast Titans. This is going to be a great day for our club as we meet at the A.J. Kelly Park Function Room for a buffet lunch with Qld State of Origin player and Dolphins Tom Gilbert the special guest. MC for the lunch will be Terry Kirkham which will keep things entertaining before we travel to Suncorp Stadium with reserved seating to watch the game.

I would like to welcome Chris and the Olympic team to AJ Kelly for today’s game. Well done to Chris and his team on making the QLD Cup finals and the Australia Cup round of 32. We wish them all the best in their round of 32 game V Apia Leichhardt FC.
Last week we had a tough game V Sunshine Coast Wanderers. They were physical and direct as we knew they would be. We came away 3-1 winners. We controlled the first half with 3 good goals. Goal scorers Niyah Joseph, Marcus Beattie and Jhiesen Macause. All the players put in a great shift to secure the 3 points. Well done lads.
Last Saturday saw First Team players help our Junior teams on game day. We had players giving team talks, helping with warm ups and giving individual player advice. It was great to see the players engaging with the Juniors. Keep an eye out over coming weeks as more players will be there to mentor our future Power stars.

A Milestone Achievement: Coach Aaron Philp's 200th Game
Today we celebrate the most successful Head Coach at this club, Aaron Philp, who last weekend reached the milestone of the 200th League fixture as Head Coach with an away win over Sunshine Coast Wanderers. Aaron is a club junior that played his junior football and senior football for Margate and Peninsula Power.
He also began his coaching career early with juniors and youth levels at Power before moving into senior football. He is also a Life Member and Hall of Fame member of our club. Our club would also like to take this opportunity to thank his wonderful supporting wife Sarah and children Ava and Jai for all their support on Aaron’s journey from player to Head Coach at our club.

Our U15s return to competition games this week after a five week break after school holidays and two postponed games due to the National Championships. We have 10 games remaining in the league to be played over the next 6 weeks. The boys are looking forward to playing midweek catch up games under lights.
Our focus for the remainder of the season is to continue to work on each player’s individual development plan and ensure they maximise learning opportunities during the back end of the season. Whilst we have a good mix of games and training, we want players to always be clear on their individual learning objectives.
Special mention and congratulations to Coen and Manny who left this week on a twoweek futsal tour to China.
$200 FairPlay vouchers to keep even more kids active
The popular FairPlay program is open to all Queensland children aged from 5 to 17 years from 1 July 2024, with the voucher value increased per child to $200 to offset the rising cost of junior sport for families.
The number of vouchers for the program has also increased from 50,000 up to 200,000. The additional 150,000 vouchers are available for Queensland children and young people aged between 5 and 17 years, to participate in sport and active recreation.
There is a limit of 1 voucher per child per financial year.

Tickets are still available for an all inclusive $100 which includes buffet lunch, return bus seats, reserved seats to watch the Dolphins v Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium and a great day out.
