President’s Welcome

Hello and welcome to A.J. Kelly Park for today’s National Premier League games.

We look forward to some great football action against Sunshine Coast Wanderers.

It was great to see both senior teams get off to winning starts last weekend at home. Thank you to all our junior teams, players and parents for coming down and we hope to see more of you during the season.

Our games against Sunshine Coast Wanderers have always been tough encounters and the teams have been working very hard at training to prepare.

It was great to score 4 goals last week, however just as impressive was our defence. It was really pleasing to see the whole team work so hard to defend our goal and keep the opposition scoreless.

Thank you to the players and supporters last week as we paid tribute with armbands and a moments silence in memory of the recent passing of Power Life Member Marianne Murphy.

A big shoutout to our Head Ground Official James on Matchdays. James does a fantastic job setting up on matchdays, looking after the referees and collecting the match balls. Thank you James.

Also thank you to our secretary Julianne who continues to do a fantastic job with our match day programmes. We really appreciate all you do Julianne.

Our Junior Academy teams are in action also tomorrow here at A.J. Kelly Park when they take on Mitchelton.

The teams are playing some great football and have all started the season very well. Keep up the good work!

So grab something to eat and drink and get ready for some football action this afternoon on the Peninsula!

First Team,

Head Coach, Aaron Philp

Welcome Nick and the Sunshine Coast Wanderers to AJ Kelly for today’s game.

It was good to get the first game underway last weekend with a win against the young Roar. The young Roar went down to 10 men early in the game, so it was our game to control.

I thought we did a good job as a team with everyone contributing. Goal scorers Jheison Macuace, Niyah Joseph, Rhys Messina & an own goal.

We look ahead to today’s game. We know today will be tough against a well coached and organised opposition. We played them in the Kappa Cup Pro Series a few weeks back coming away 6-2 winners. Today will be a completely different challenge which we are looking forward to.

We look to keep building and improving in all areas. The players are working extremely hard and it’s a credit to the group.

Well done to the U23’s for getting off to a great start last weekend with a win. I thought they played some good football and scored some nice goals. Well done to all involved.

It was great to see all the juniors down to support us last weekend. We thank you very much and hope to see you at many more home games.

We are looking to hold another clinic to incorporate the seniors and juniors in the April school holidays. Please keep a look out for clinic details. Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters. We are Power!

First Men's Team Dominating Kappa Pro Series

Our First Men's Team has been on fire in the Kappa Pro Series, proving their strength in Pool B with an unbeaten run so far.

Kicking off on 31 January, the team secured a 2-0 victory over Eastern Suburbs, setting the tone for a strong campaign. They followed up with a dominant 6-2 win against Sunshine Coast Wanderers on 4 February, showcasing their attacking firepower. On 9 February, they continued their winning streak with a 3-1 triumph over Ipswich, before edging out Logan Lightning 2-1 on 14 February in a hard-fought contest.

With four wins from four matches, our team now looks ahead to the final Pool B clash against Capalaba on 14 March at John Fredericks Park. A victory will secure their spot in the Finals Series, so we encourage everyone to come down and show their support!

The Kappa Pro Series is a knockout tournament that runs alongside regular-season fixtures, featuring teams from the NPL Men, FQPL 1 Men, and FQPL 1 & 2 Women. It provides additional high-quality match minutes against varied opposition, with teams battling through the group stage before the top sides progress to the Finals Series.

Let’s get behind our team as they push for glory!

Coaches Corner

• U15 FQA2, Coach Greg Carey

With our season already 4 weeks in and having played 2 preseason games, the U15’s have set an early standard for themselves.

We have discussed the need to set, maintain and look to exceed our own expectations as individuals and as a group through hard work, being humble and challenging each other in all aspects on game day and in training.

We welcome all returning players and families and are excited to have a few new faces on board in Riley Q, Riley Mc, Ryder, Henry and Josh. Welcome to Peninsula Power boys and also your families.

There is a lot of potential in this group, and I am sure they will play some entertaining football this year.

Please come and support the boys as they do enjoy playing in front of family and friends.

• U13 FQA2, Coach Alec Bowden

The under 13s team have been focused on strengthening their team cohesion after welcoming five new players this season. The team have worked hard on developing skills in breaking lines and maintaining an open body shape when receiving the ball.

Hard work and training have led the team to an 8-1 win against Holland Park last round, a demonstration of how far the team have come this season.

Charlton has really stepped up his game, scoring a total of nine goals so far this season.

FQPL 1 Women Competing in Kappa Pro Series

Our FQPL 1 Women’s team have kicked off their Kappa Pro Series campaign in Pool D, gaining valuable experience in this exciting competition. Their first match on 21 February saw them face a tough Capalaba side, resulting in a 6-2 defeat, but the team showed plenty of fight and determination. Their second match against Southside Eagles on 28 February will have been another important test, and while we don’t have the result at the time of printing, we’re sure the squad put in a strong performance.

The final group match is set for 7 March against North Brisbane FC, where the team will be looking to finish the pool stage on a high. Then, they turn their focus to the start of the FQPL 1 season, with their opening match against Grange Thistle on 15 March.

We encourage everyone to get behind our women’s team as they take on both the Kappa Pro Series and their league campaign. Your support makes a difference let’s cheer them on!
