President’s Welcome

Hello and welcome players, officials and supporters to A.J. Kelly Park.

Today we welcome Redlands United for matches in the National Premier Leagues Qld.

A great win last Saturday in our local derby with Moreton City Excelsior. It was a great preview of what finals football is all about. Plenty of attacking football, resolute and tough defending with a great team performance from the

Congratulations to our Under 23 team who also won their match against MCE who are playing finals. It was a great performance to secure their derby match.

Our Women will play their last game against Gold Coast United this weekend and will need a win to have any chance of maintaining NPLW in 2025. There are still some variations that may happen with several clubs to play catch up matches after the last round. We are all behind the ladies and know they will give it their all.

We would also like to wish our Metro 1 Women all the best in their Cup Final this weekend being played at Slacks Creek. They have already wrapped up the Premiership and hopefully add the Cup Trophy.

Congratulations to all our Football Academy Rising Star nominees and winners. They were announced at the awards night held at the Komo last Tuesday night.

Some big announcements will be happening soon regarding the 2025 season with planning in place already. We will continue our 25th Anniversary celebrations (2000- 2025) with a range of new apparel and events so stay tuned!

As always please enjoy the facilities here at A.J. Kelly Park, sit back have a cold drink, some great food and enjoy the football.

Feuerriegel, CLUB PRESIDENT

Head Coach, Aaron Philp

Good evening and welcome Gareth and Redlands to AJ Kelly for tonight’s game.

The end of the regular season is here. We are fortunate enough to have made the final series. The boys have worked really hard and done a great job securing finals football in 2024.

We have played some good footy along the way. There have been ups and downs, lots of learnings but the squad has been excellent all year. A real pleasure to coach you boys.

Last weekend away at Moreton City was a really tough game against a good team. MCE are 2nd and you can see why. They are a tough team to play at Wolter Park.

I was really pleased with the Team performance coming away 3-1 winners. Goal Scores Marcus, Jhiesen and Rhys Messina. Terrific job boys.

We move on to tonight’s game against Redlands. They have good players over the park that can hurt us if we aren’t on our game. We are looking forward to playing in front of our home supporters for the last time in 2024.

We wish Redlands all the best next season.

Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors and supporters for your continued support.

We are Power!

NPL Round 22 Previews

Phil Davis

• Brisbane Roar Youth vs Sunshine Coast Wanderers

Brisbane Roar Youth came from a disastrous pre-season and achieved what is best for the game by staying in NPL for 2025. It’s a tough gig for the academy coach. Sometimes you don’t know who’ve you’ve got available even on the morning of the game. Well done.

Sunshine Coast Wanderers want more than survival but it’s not easy at this level. Considering the complete demise of the other Coast-based side it’s testament to them that they weren’t REALLY in a relegation battle all year. Club-based sides over “regional” sides the winner.

Who really knows what could happen in any of these games. There’s literally nothing on the line for any teams but especially these two. Prediction: BRY 3-1

• Gold Coast Knights vs Lions FC

Gold Coast Knights are back-to-back champions which everyone saw coming. In fact, I called it after Round 4. There’s nothing to be gained from playing their full team in this game so if anyone is to rest players, I’m predicting it’s them.

Lions FC can still finish in third place, but they won’t because Power are playing Redlands so, it has to be said, it’s a disappointing season for them. We’ve all seen teams find their momentum during the finals series so maybe something better is ahead for them.

Could have been a Premiership decider and I suspect FQ were thinking that as well. Draws should always be random. Prediction: 2-2 draw

• Olympic FC vs Brisbane City

Olympic FC usually get a decent crowd for the ethnic derby but there’s nothing worth checking out in this one. Olympic obviously have one eye on the MASSIVE game at South Melbourne so who knows what team they’ll run out in this one. A decent season.

Brisbane City will look back with some trepidation at the second half of the season. It seems likely they are going to finish one place above the relegation zone which did not look the case all year. Once a big club, now a biggish club in a big pond.

Nothing to play for here but it’s still a derby so pride will play a role. It’s so difficult to predict these things but I’m going for the better team. Prediction: Olympic 2-0

• Peninsula Power vs Redlands United

Peninsula Power had a tidy win over MCE last week. Yes, they are back baby! An excellent run of form, an improving combination, some young players stepping straight into the first team…good signs everywhere. And a potential GF on the horizon as well.

Redlands United will be hurting because they always looked the most likely team to finish bottom for the entire season and that is what eventuated. They had their moments, but a lack of resources can really hurt but they’ll be competitive in QPL so might bounce straight back.

Only one result I can really predict in this game, a home win, and I fancy it will be by a sizeable margin and over by half time. Prediction: Peninsula 4-0

• Rochedale Rovers vs Moreton City Excelsior

Rochedale Rovers beat GCU a couple of weeks back and they could see the light at the end of the tunnel. But they were ultimately relegated through not being able to score a goal at Underwood Park. Ouch. It’s been one of those seasons. Goals were too hard to come by.

Moreton City Excelsior are the great achievers this season. GCK cleared out early, but the Wolter Park boys never faded and are doing well in the Australia Cup. There are plenty of other clubs who could learn from what’s going on there.

Even if MCE rest players I can’t see Rovers winning. Now if they can just change their silly name back to ACE again, I can be happy. Prediction: MCE 3-1

• Wynnum Wolves vs Gold Coast United

Wynnum Wolves deserve a round of applause. Onya Fyfey! Fifth place when many were deciding who would go down between them and Redlands before the season kicked off. One season doesn’t make a returning powerhouse, but the foundations have been put into place.

Gold Coast United are the same every year. A promising squad that under-achieves. Sixth place seems about right, and one can only wonder what might happen without Chris Lucas banging in the special goals.

Nothing to play for but it’s worth noting that GCU haven’t won in ages but the last time they did it was against Wynnum. Prediction: GCU 2-1

Historical Performance Overview

As we reflect on Peninsula Power's journey since our inception in 2000, it's remarkable to see how far we've come. The tables below provide a snapshot of our team's performance across various leagues over the years. We have compiled data on three key aspects:

• Goal Difference: A measure of our scoring efficiency and defensive strength. It highlights the seasons where our goal-scoring prowess combined with solid defence to make us a formidable force.

• Goals Against: This table showcases our defensive resilience, showing the number of goals conceded each season. It's a testament to the tenacity of our defenders and goalkeepers throughout the years.

• Goals For: Here, you’ll see our attacking capabilities, reflecting the seasons where we were most successful in finding the back of the net.

These statistics not only highlight our triumphs and challenges but also offer a glimpse into the growth and evolution of our club. Whether it was dominating the league or overcoming tough seasons, each year has shaped the legacy of Peninsula Power. We hope this historical comparison inspires pride and anticipation for what's to come in our future seasons.

Coaches Corner

• U23 FQ Academy, Coach Ben Winlaw

It’s been a tough year for the group with season ending injuries some players. The boys have shown good fight competing every week with a lot of draws for the team.

A few good wins against top 4 teams sees us going into the last round against Redlands which will hopefully give us 3 wins in a row to close out the season.

U15 FQ Academy, Coach Brian Doughty

The U15 team continue to work hard on their individual and team play development. Over the last two weeks at training, we have been working on our high press to win the ball and switching play to attack in wide areas. It’s pleasing to see the players apply the learnings from training in games.

Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have had several players with injuries and on holidays. This has given Archie, Dallas, Mickey, Saul and Zyon from the U14’s the opportunity to play up. All players have contributed during their time on the pitch, and we thank them for their support.

We have 7 games remaining in the season, and our focus will be looking to improve our consistency of play.

U15 FQ Academy Girls, Coach Mick Gallo

This season has seen a new look 15's squad come together, as we have added some fantastic new and talented players to the club. This season has been all about development, as this squad will no doubt produce multiple senior players for the club. They are sitting just outside a finals position, in what has been an extremely competitive age group and league. The team has matched it with the top teams in the league, but as a new team, the consistency will

The highlight of the season, has been the ability of these exciting young footballers being called upon to play under 17's and under 23's over the course of the season. With no less than nine of our players having played in the under 23's, and put in competitive performances. This no doubt has helped with their development to be taken out of their comfort zones.

We would like to congratulate Ruby Bird, representing the Football Australia XI at the Nationals in Melbourne. And Ruby Bird, along with Ayva Marsh and Brooke Hummels have been selected in the QLD under 14 squad.

NPLW Squad

NPLW U23, Coach Mick Gallo

What has been a really tough season for our under 23's, with a number of new players coming into the club, has seen a transition year. Due to injuries in the senior team over the course of the season, has seen our under 23's get lots of opportunities to support the senior team, and get some valuable minutes. As well as seeing our under 23's develop their leadership qualities in mentoring the young players that have stepped up. Unfortunately, we lost one of our exciting young players to an ACL injury, but no doubt Isabelle Simon will be back stronger in 2025. We would like to congratulate Kayla Murcutt, on representing the QLD Under 16 squad at the Nationals in Melbourne.

We are proud to wish three of our players, that have played under 23's since 2022 at the club, as well as one of them that signed her first senior contract in 2024, embark on the next step of their football journey in signing to play college football in the USA. We wish Sienna Powell, Claudia Dykes and Kelsey Zorzini safe travels as they head to the USA. And we look forward to welcoming them back in 2025 during their summer break.
