SEPTEMBER 2017

#jsdinnovates Empowering our students to discover and pursue their dreams.

Signs of growth mindset spotted in Michelle Feaman’s class at Mona Elementary School on the first day of school.

Welcome Back! I’d like to officially go on the record and say that summer is never long enough. Especially this summer, as teachers at the elementary schools were grappling with a new ELA program, junior high teachers were working to create proficiency scales, and high school teachers worked to build rubrics and improve their Canvas courses. Now, teachers hit the ground running and turn all that preparation into action. I am excited at all the good I see in classrooms district-wide. Teachers are building in time for student ownership and reflection. Small group instruction allows a teacher to target by student, by skill. Students are present and ready to work, and teachers are prepared to give it all they’ve got. As mentioned in Opening Institute: Juab in five words? "Nicest bunch of teachers, ever.” -KB JUAB SCHOOL DISTRICT
