Juab Jr. High Buzz Newsletter Stay Connected to JJHS There are many ways to stay connected to what is going on at JJHS and also to know how your student is performing in each of their classes.

This is the first edition of our monthly newsletter. Each edition will be posted to the Juab Jr. High Facebook page and also on the JJHS webpage (juabsd.org select Secondary Schools and then Juab Jr. High).

If you have a question about anything that we do please email (ken.rowley@juabsd.org) or call the office (435-623-1541) and we will share the question and the answer in this newsletter. Our goal is to communicate openly with all stakeholders and to empower each of our students to discover and pursue their dreams.

- Power School Login information for parents is included in this mailing in the Single Sign on document. Call or come in if you have any questions on how to set it up.

- Parents can now Login to Canvas and see your students’ assignments. How to create your account and login is included in the Tech Tips handout in this mailing.

Report Cards This Report Card is the only one that will be mailed out. In Power School you can go into the heading “Report Cards” and see each term’s Report Card.

You can print it from there or come to the office and we will print it for you.

Personalized Learning We know that each student’s needs are unique and it is our goal to personalize learning for each student in our school. We are working to be able to identify each student by each standard in all of their classes. This is not an easy task but with the help of technology and blended learning teaching strategies we are making great improvement in this area.

Standard Grades and Work/Effort Grades On your students report card you will see 2 different grades for each class. The Q1 Grade is based completely on the Standards of the Utah State Core Curriculum and includes assessments, projects, and presentations.

The E1 Grade reflects a students Attitude and Effort in each of their classes and includes participation, assignments, preparation, cooperation, attendance, and being respectful in class. These grades are used to communicate how each student is performing on the standards of each class and how much effort they are putting into the class.

Communication If you have a new email address or cell phone number please make sure to update it with the main office so you will receive communications that we send.

JJHS Students compete at Snow College through the Mt. Nebo FFA Chapter.

30 students from JJHS competed in Livestock, Dairy, and Horse Evaluation competition at Snow College last week. FFA is focussed on helping our students develop their leadership potential, grow personally, and help them be successful in a career through their involvement in the agriculture education program.

Fall Instrumental Concert at Juab Junior High On October 5th we had our Fall Instrumental Concert. More than 200 students from JJHS and Juab High School participated in Band 1, Band 2, Beginning Orchestra, Advanced Orchestra, Orchestra 1, HS Band, and Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Johnson.
