Hamworthy Rec maintained pole position after a narrow 1-0 win, whilst Merley CS hit 7 in their win, Holt United hit 8 in their win, meanwhile at the foot of the table Poole Borough arrested their recent poor form with a much-needed win in their local derby.

The results of the Club survey requested into the League’s Representative side will now be published after the next League Management Committee meeting, to be held at the end of March. The headline is that ALL Clubs want the League Representative side to continue, which is very good news.

Skipper Grant Cormack’s 4th goal of the season proved decisive, but it was a poor game, with Wareham defying their lowly league position and giving the hosts a really tough game from start to finish in the Jewson Dorset Premier Football League.

However, the tone of the game changed dramatically on 30 minutes, as Billy Bright was adjudged to have fouled the Bridport striker in the box, the referee initially pointing to the spot. The linesman intervened and said that the initial contact was outside the box.

The referee reversed his decision, but Sturminster’s Billy Bright was sent off for a professional foul. The resulting Bridport free kick was hit over the bar, Sturminster reorganised switching Nick Thomson into central defence and despite being down to ten men they took the lead as ASHLEY CLARKE ghosted in to volley the ball home.

Bridport deservedly levelled the game following a �lowing move finished off by JOSH HUNTER to make it 1-1 at half-time.

With the game on a knife edge, Sturminster made the best possible start to the second half, WILL GUPPY twisting inside his full back and ri�ling a low shot past the Bridport goalkeeper into the bottom corner of the net to give Sturminster the lead again. Bridport, needing a goal to get back in to the tie, made a couple of attacking substitutions.

However, one of those changes had the wrong effect, as James Cox was sent off for an off-the ball offence, so reducing Bridport to ten men also. Inevitably as Bridport threw men forward in search of an equaliser, they were vulnerable on the counter attack, and as Buddy O’Shea won the ball in the middle of the park, fed in WILL GUPPY again, who outpaced the defence and blasted his finish into the top corner, the game was sealed.
