Hello John Rolfe Board Member,
On behalf of the John Rolfe YMCA, I welcome you as Member of the 2023-2025 John Rolfe YMCA Board of Management.
The John Rolfe YMCA has been in service to the Henrico County community since 2005. It is through innovative programs, creative events, and targeted partnerships that John Rolfe Y is seen for more than the typical, “gym and swim.’ It is our intent that such collaborative efforts prove our branch to be a safe space striving to meet the needs of all who enter.
As a John Rolfe Board Member, you are more than just a Volunteer. The diversity of our Board offers an array of perspectives, skillsets, and lived experiences where each voice is recognized and appreciated. We value this diversity as such contributions seek to make a meaningful and intentional impact in the community.
The attached manual provides insight into the many programs offered by the YMCA. As we work together to cultivate special programs that align with the John Rolfe YMCA legacy, it is our hope that your individual volunteer experience provides you with a sense of pride, satisfaction, and happiness.
Again, welcome to the John Rolfe YMCA Board of Management. We appreciate your willingness to serve.

Students also receive math kits, reading-level appropriate books, and enrichment activities like free swim lessons, and summer camp. Students are also provided the opportunity to explore STEAM programs including Lego Robotics, STEAMpower!, and Dance.
HEALTHY LIVING Moving Forward
This pediatric cancer survivorship program helps up to 15 youth regain their strength, endurance and confidence after cancer through weekly one-on-one personal training sessions. To support the health and wellness of family members, the Y provides a family membership and summer camp experiences for siblings.

Parkinson’s Support Program
The Parkinson's Movement program brings individuals with Parkinson's disease and their caregivers together weekly to improve agility, balance, and strength and to socialize and support one another. The program is led by staff trained in the Parkinson's PWR!Moves program and will serve over 50 people.
Mental Health First Aid
Provide Mental Health First Aid training to the community to help others developing mental health problems or experiencing a mental health crisis. We will facilitate two mental health community conversations helping people learn more about mental health issues and provide 100 mental health toolkits to help people cope with mental and behavioral health concerns.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Open to All
The John Rolfe Y will provide 116 families with nearly $60,000 in financial assistance. By offering subsidized memberships and programs, we remove financial barriers that may prevent members of our community from achieving their wellness goals, engaging their children in enriching programs and activities, and building social networks and friendships through the Y.
Social Needs Navigation
Through our Social Needs Navigation service, over 100 people each year are connected to resources, including housing, food, transportation, employment, and medical services, so they can move from crisis to thriving.

By offering subsidized memberships and programs, we remove financial barriers that may prevent members of our community from achieving their wellness goals, engaging their children in enriching programs and activities and building social networks and friendships through the Y.
Social Needs Navigation
Through our Social Needs Navigation service, over 100 people each year are connected to resources, including housing, food, transportation, employment, and medical services, so they can move from crisis to thriving.
