BOARD COMMITTEES

Board Development Committee

• Appointed by the chair for a two-year term

• One member of this committee will be designated the chair

• Assess strengths/weaknesses of the board yearly based on association’s long-range plan and branch’s needs

• Prospect, identify, cultivate, and nominate potential board members

• Provide a board orientation program for new board members

• Meets throughout the year

Philanthropy Committee

• Volunteers serve a minimum of two years

• Provide direction in all aspects of the annual campaign including donor cultivation, volunteer cultivation, prospects, and the calendar of dates

• Meets throughout the year

• One member of this committee will be designated the chair

MISSION, EQUITY & INCLUSION COMMITTEE

• Consists of board, YMCA, and community members for two-year terms

• Helps connect the YMCA’s mission work with community needs

• Organizes this work in subcommittees or task forces to accomplish tasks

• Meets throughout the year

Board Task Forces

• Created under the Mission Equity & Inclusion Committee

• Limited to specific projects/issues/activities within a specified amount of time

• Once the work has been completed they no longer meet

• Will work from a chart of work created by the Board Chair and Executive Director

• Will consist of a chair who will be responsible for leading meetings, holding participants accountable, and will report to the board

• Will consist of members who may or may not come from the board

• Will have a staff person assigned to them who will provide logistical support, information as needed, and will be responsible for implementation
