Radical Education Hits the Screen
On Saturday, November 18, 2023, hundreds of educators and community members gathered in the Delta College Auditorium SUSD to view a free prescreening of the movie “Radical.” Stockton was selected as one of four cities to be able to preview the inspiring story of education and perseverance. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michelle Rodriguez was instrumental on getting the movie for the SUSD community. Based on a true story, the film depicts a Mexican border town plagued by violence, where a frustrated teacher tries a radical new method to break through his students’ apathy and unlock their potential. “This was a truly inspiring story, which reminds many of us why we dedicated ours careers to education. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to experience an uplifting example as an educational community,” said Dr. Michelle Rodriguez.
Educación Radical Llega a la Pantalla El viernes 7 de noviembre, SUSD CTE presentó su Exposición Anual en la Escuela Secundaria Stagg para promover este práctico programa estatal y nacional. La Educación Técnica Profesional, o CTE, prepara a los estudiantes para carreras con gran demanda y buenos salarios. Si bien CTE incluye muchos de los programas tradicionales de educación
vocacional —como construcción y reparación de automóviles— se ha expandido para cubrir una amplia gama de diferentes sectores industriales. Estos incluyen atención médica, tecnología de la información, fabricación e ingeniería avanzada, hotelería y administración, seguridad pública, negocios, agricultura y muchos más.
Turkey Trots El Pavo Trota at the YAP en el YAP
On November 28, 2023 SUSD’s Young Adult Program (YAP) held their Turkey Trot. Students did laps around the parking lot, got ribbons, and won prizes for their fundraising. The Young Adult Program assists students 18-22 as they transition from high school to adult life.
El 28 de noviembre de 2023, el Programa de Jóvenes Adultos (YAP) del SUSD celebró su Trote del Pavo. Los estudiantes dieron trotaron alrededor del estacionamiento, recibieron cintas conmemorativas y ganaron premios en esta recaudación de fondos. El Programa para Jóvenes Adultos ayuda a los estudiantes de 18 a 22 años en su transición de la escuela secundaria a la vida adulta.
