“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24”
The season of hope, joy and peace has arrived to rejoice with our family and friends and it’s a great pleasure to wish each and everyone the best of the season. It gives great delight to have you all back again to another concert of Christmas music this year. Let me take this opportunity to welcome you all to this 16th Christmas concert “Behold that star” by the leading choir group of this region “Men’s Voice and Choral Society’. As we come together, we join with you to give thanks to our Almighty for the blessings that came to us in different ways in our passing out year.
AS you all know, we have always been the first to begin the season with the seasonal songs and even this year God Almighty has blessed us to be the pioneers. From the feedbacks of every year, we learnt and were encouraged to do better every new year. The group has worked and prayed a lot for the concert. And am sure “Behold that Star” will brighten your souls to give you peace and joy of Christmas.
I take this occasion to express my deep sense of gratitude to all the benevolent sponsors and supporters for their valuable contributions towards this program helping us to achieve our goals. I extend my deepest thanks to all the well wishers who have supported us throughout and also the families of all who are taking part in this great day that helped our journey well going. Last but not the least our thanks to all who have gathered here without which the program will not become a success.
Thank you once again and I wish all of you a happy Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
On behalf of Men’s Voice and Choral Society
Thomas Varghese Secretary Men’s Voice & Choral Society – Kuwait
When Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden following Sin, the Creator knew that man needed a divine help to live in this world. Over the ages, God made laws, sent signs and angels to direct mankind. He raised many people as leaders, chose kings, sent prophets from among the human whenever man was distressed and confused; when he went astray; to warn them of the dire consequences of sin and being away from the creator. They were but only for some time. Man was vulnerable and anecdotal. But God never gave up. He loved his creation. He planned to send His own Son. He waited and after many years of silence he sent a Star in the sky. A bright diamond with all its brilliance up in the sky as a sign that a king was born to the waiting humankind who was in darkness. The wise men noticed it and the angels blew the trumpet. They announced that the star was the sign of the birth of a king. Yes, It was the birth of the king of kings, the messiah, the comforter; the teacher who only could help mankind living in darkness. He was Hope for the hopeless, Light for the ones in darkness, the Way for the lost and a Comforter for the distressed and Eternal freedom from sin and death. Today Men’s voice and Choral society is here with “Behold That Star” to remind us that this star is still up there in the sky for us. This is their 16th year of glorious performance. They are a unique group of talented vocalists and musicians who are been keenly anticipated this season by all the music lovers of this region every year. It’s their privilege to blow the trumpet to this season of festivity. Today they will lead you with the star to the little town of Bethlehem where Mary is with the beautiful child wrapped up. They will echo the sweet lullaby, the celebration happening in heaven and on earth over the birth of this great Redeemer, the hope of the world. You can sit back and get ready to tap your hands and feet to some of the beautiful diversity in the reverberation of the musical world. The traditional songs like “Elijah and Joshua”, the majestic anthems like “Behold the star” and “And he shall purify”. ” Born, born in Bethlehem” is the American cantata that beautifully depicts the scenario of the birth, and also, not left behind with the lush of the Malayalam songs. You are welcome to sing along with the traditional hymns of the season.
At this moment of joy and festivity we the Men’s voice and Choral society will like you to enjoy this musical sonata and at the same time, we would like to send this message that the star that shone long ago may seem far but it’s still there with all its brightness within our sight. It’s the light that dispels fear and provides assurance and direction enduring peace and joy. We humbly seek your prayers that God would keep us strong together to sing for His glory and we wish that you would take along the joy, peace and hope of this season. Wish you all a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Abide with me (Men’s Voice & Choral Society)
(Lyrics by Henry F. Lyte, 1820 Music by William H. Monk, 1861)
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide; When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour; What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
O come, all ye faithful (Choir & Congregation) (Lyrics & Music by John Francis Wade)
O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant! O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold him, Born the King of Angels: O come, let us adore Him, (3×) Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above! Glory to God, glory in the highest: O come, let us adore Him, (3×) Christ the Lord.
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, born this happy morning; Jesus, to thee be glory given! Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing! O come, let us adore Him, (3×) Christ the Lord.
A SONG IN THE AIR (Men’s Voice & Choral Society)
(Words and Music by JOEL RANEY Incorporating AWAY IN A MANGER)
Night time is falling; Shepherds are leaving their sheep. Angels come calling, Singing the baby to sleep. Guarding the manger, Mary keeps watch in the night, Holding the stranger, the King of love and light.
There’s a song in the air! There’s a star in the sky; A mother’s deep prayer and a baby’s low cry. The star rains its fire while the beautiful sing: The Manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!
(Chorus)
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head. The star in the sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
Come to the manger, bow down and worship the King. Loud Alleluias, lift up your voices and sing.
(Chorus)
“The Manger of Bethlehem cradles a King! “The Manger of Bethlehem cradles a King! “The Manger of Bethlehem cradles a new born King!”

Mary, Did You Know?(Men’s Voice & Choral Society) (Words and Music by MARK LOWRY and BUDDY GREENE)
Mary did you know that your baby boy, would some day walk on waters?
Mary did you know that your baby boy, would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy, has come to make you new?
This child that you delivered will soon deliver you.
Mary did you know that your baby boy, will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy, will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy, has walked where angels trod?
When you kissed your little baby, then you kissed the face of God.
The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again;
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the Lamb.
Mary did you know that your baby boy, is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy, will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy, was heaven’s per fect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding, is the great, the great “I AM!”

Born, Born in Bethlehem (Men’s Voice) (Words and Music by DOUGLAS E. WAGNER)
Shepherds saw the star in the eastern sky; Glory, glory halelu! Followed to the place that was prophesied; Hallelujah!
Born, born in Bethlehem, O sing it, Born, born in Bethlehem, on that Winter morning long ago. (Chorus)

I Heard It First on the Radio (Men’s Voice) (Words by GLORIA GAITHER Music by WILLIAM J. GAITHER)
Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so, And I heard it first on the radio. This love of God so rich and strong, shall be the saints’ and angels’ song And I heard it first on the radio.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, the lost and lonely can be found, And grace can even save a wretch like me! No other love could make a way; No other love my debt could pay, And I heard it first on the radio.
Needing refuge for my soul, when I had no place to go, And I heard it first on the radio. From a life of wasted years, He gave me peace and calmed the fears, And I heard it first on the radio.
Had I not heard where would I be, without this love that lifted me, When I was lost and nothing else would help? Just as I was without one plea, sweet Jesus came and rescued me And I heard it first on the radio.
Alas and did my Savior bleed, that captive spirits could be freed,
And I heard it first on the radio. My soul has found a resting place, until I meet Him face to face, And I heard it first on the radio.
I love to tell the story true, and those who know still love it too:
Oh, what a precious Friend we have in Him! And when in glory saints will tell, it will be the theme they love so well, And we heard it first on the radio.
Na na na, na na na na, Na na na, na na na na, And I heard it first on the radio. (2)
I heard it first on the radio. And I heard it first on the radio.

Arranged by LARRY SHACKLEY)
Behold that star! Behold that star up yonder, behold that star!
It is the star of Bethlehem. (2)
The star broke forth up on the night, it is the star of Bethlehem.
The hill side shone with heavenly light, it is the star of Bethlehem.
Oh! Behold that star!
Behold that star up yonder, behold that star!
It is the star of Bethlehem. (Chorus)
The Star shone bright to point the way, it is the star of Bethlehem.
To where the baby Jesus lay, it is the star of Bethlehem. (Chorus)
O star, O star that’s burning bright, in the darkness of the night (4)
O star, the fairest one in sight (2)
There’s a star in the east on Christmas morn, Rise up shepherd and follow!
It will lead to the place where the Savior’s born. Rise up shepherd and follow.
Follow, follow, rise up shepherd and follow. Follow the star of Bethlehem, Rise up shepherd and follow.
The wise men came on from the east, it is the star of Bethlehem.
To worship him the Prince of Peace, it is the star of Bethlehem. (Chorus)
Behold that star! The star of Bethlehem!
Rise up and follow!
Behold that star!
Silent Night (Choir & Congregation) (Lyrics by Joseph Mohr Composed by Franz Gruber)
Silent night, Holy night, All is calm, all is bright Round yon virgin, mother and child Holy infant, tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace,
Silent night, Holy night Son of God, love’s pure light Radiant beams from thy holy face With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord at thy birth Jesus, Lord at thy birth.
Silent night, Holy night Shepherds quake, at the sight Glories stream from heaven above Heavenly, hosts sing Hallelujah. Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born.
