Viva la Parranda es un experimento teatral extraordinariamente arriesgado, comisionado por Miami New Drama, que de alguna manera nos salió extraordinariamente bien. Pero, pensándolo bien, ¿cómo no iba a funcionar? Nacida de la mente visionaria de Juan Souki y del corazón virtuoso de Betsayda Machado y sus compañeros de La Parranda El Clavo, esta pieza es una celebración viva y palpitante de la música, la memoria y la resistencia. Los venezolanos hemos atravesado unas décadas sumamente complejas bajo una dictadura que desencadenó una crisis económica catastrófica, forzando al 30% del país a vivir en la diáspora—el exilio moderno más grande de la historia, incluso mayor que el de Siria. Incluso en Estados Unidos, hogar de casi un millón de venezolanos, los últimos meses han traído nuevos desafíos: cientos de miles perdieron su estatus de protección temporal de un día para otro. Viva la Parranda is an extraordinarily risky theatrical experiment commissioned by Miami New Drama that somehow turned out extraordinarily well. But then again, how could it not? Born from the visionary mind of Juan Souki and the virtuosic heart of Betsayda Machado and her bandmates from La Parranda El Clavo, this piece is a living, breathing celebration of music, memory, and resistance. Together, they’ve turned a remote village’s folklore into a theatrical triumph—part concert, part ritual, part communal catharsis.
Venezuelans have endured an extremely complicated few decades under dictatorship, facing a catastrophic economic crisis that has forced 30% of the country into diaspora—the largest modern exile in history, surpassing even Syria’s. Even in the United States, home to nearly a million Venezuelans, recent months have brought new challenges as hundreds of thousands lost their temporary protective status overnight. Yet Viva la Parranda reminds us of an indomitable Venezuelan spirit that always chooses hope and humor in the face of adversity.
At its heart, this is the story of a forgotten small town, a remote village of a few hundred people that might seem foreign to those of us living in dynamic urban centers. But the stories, adversities, and hopes of the members of La Parranda El Clavo are no different from our own. The emotional DNA is the same. When you watch these eight remarkable musicians pour their souls onto this stage, you’re not only witnessing their story—you’re witnessing yours, too.

JUAN SOUKI (Director) el trabajo de Juan honra las historias orales y las tradiciones populares de América Latina, colaborando con comunidades que preservan su patrimonio y resiliencia a través de relatos y canciones. Durante la última década, ha sido un colaborador cercano de Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo. Ha desarrollado proyectos para instituciones como The Arts Center en NYU Abu Dhabi, Princeton University Concert Series, NPR’s Tiny Desk, Balich Wonder Studios, la Comisión Real de AlUla, el Teatro Nacional de Colombia y la Cuadrienal de Praga de Diseño Escénico. Desde 2023, se desempeña como Director Ejecutivo de Mid Atlantic Arts, una organización que apoya y financia la expresión artística diversa en diez estados de EE.UU., con un fuerte enfoque en las artes comunitarias y folclóricas. Juan está encantado de regresar a Miami New Drama y The Colony Theatre, tras los estrenos de Papá Cuatro en 2021 y En La Vida Hay Amores en 2019.
Juan’s work honors the oral histories and folk traditions of Latin America, collaborating with communities that preserve their heritage and resilience through stories and songs. For the past decade, he has been a close collaborator of Betsayda Machado and La Parranda El Clavo. He has developed projects for institutions such as The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi, Princeton University Concert Series, NPR’s Tiny Desk, Balich Wonder Studios, the Royal Commission of AlUla, Teatro Nacional de Colombia, and the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design. Since 2023, he has served as Executive Director of Mid Atlantic Arts, an organization that supports and funds diverse artistic expression across ten U.S. states, with a strong focus on community and folk arts. Juan is thrilled to return to Miami New Drama and The Colony Theatre, following the premieres of Papá Cuatro in 2021 and En La Vida Hay Amores in 2019

Is one of the principal founders of the Parranda Primero de Enero, the first parranda group from the village of El Clavo, which was founded more than 30 years ago. Asterio is a natural athlete; he played in the Miranda State basketball team and has thirty years of experience as a physical education teacher. Asterio is one of the leading percussionists of Betsayda Machado & Parranda El Clavo, playing various instruments and rhythms, such as parranda, quitiplás, culoé puya, and fulía, genres that represent the purest sounds of their musical Afro-Venezuelan heritage. Alongside Parranda El Clavo, Asterio has performed at important music festivals, such as the Montana Folk Festival, Chicago World Festival, Richmond Folk Festival, Rudolstadt Festival, and La Mar de Músicas. Asterio learned how to play the tambor with his older brother back in town when he was a little boy. He still enjoys playing and has devoted his life to music, sports, and family.

YOUSE CARDOZO inició su experiencia musical a los siete años en la Orquesta Sinfónica Panaquire de la región de Barlovento. Al terminar el bachillerato, estudió en la Escuela de Bomberos Profesionales de Caracas. Actualmente es teniente con 24 años de servicio en el cuerpo de bomberos de Caracas. Durante muchos años formó parte del equipo oficial de baloncesto de la brigada. Como integrante del ensamble de percusión en Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo, Youse demuestra ser un percusionista talentoso y versátil, además de uno de los compositores principales del grupo. Cardozo lidera una nueva generación de parranderos en Barlovento. Es un percusionista disciplinado que domina géneros como el quitiplás, la fulía, la parranda, el culo’e puya, el San Millán y el tambor de Caraballeda, presentándose junto a Betsayda
y los parranderos en América y Europa. Youse es hijo de Blanca y vive con su esposa e hijos en el pueblo de El Clavo.
Began his music experience at the age of seven in the Panaquire Symphonic Orchestra in the region of Barlovento. After finishing high school, he studied at the Caracas School of Professional Firefighters. Now, he is a lieutenant with 24 years of service in Caracas’ fire brigade. In that same institution, Youse played basketball in the brigade’s official team for many years. As part of the percussion ensemble Betsayda Machado & Parranda El Clavo, Youse proves to be a versatile and gifted percussionist, as well as one of the leading songwriters in the group. Cardozo is the leader of a new generation of parranderos in Barlovento. He’s a disciplined percussionist excelling in genres such as quitiplás, fulía, parranda, culo’e puya, San Millán, and tambor de Caraballeda, playing alongside Betsayda and parranderos in the Americas and Europe. Youse is Blanca’s son and lives with his wife and kids in the town of El Clavo.
BLANCA CASTILLO dedicó su vida a la enfermería desde los 17 años. Proviene de una familia de músicos y, desde pequeña, formó parte de coros de “Aguinaldos” (villancicos). Blanca es la única intérprete de furro o furruco en Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo. Este instrumento particular es un tambor bajo, exclusivo de Venezuela, similar al tambor hablador de África Occidental. Blanca comenzó su experiencia musical en el coro de Santa Rosa de Lima, en el pueblo de El Clavo, donde empezó a tocar el furro, algo poco común en una mujer. Al retirarse como enfermera, la música se convirtió en su profesión como percusionista de La Parranda El Clavo. Con el grupo, Blanca ha tocado en escenarios destacados como Webster Hall, el Kennedy Center, Maurer Hall, el Williams Center of the Arts, Ballhaus Berlin y NPR’s Tiny Desk. En su comunidad, Blanca forma parte de Raíces del Clavo, un proyecto cultural y educativo que se dedica a enseñar y compartir la herencia cultural y musical afrovenezolana con los niños de la región de Barlovento.
Dedicated her life to nursing since she was 17 years old. She comes from a family of musicians and, growing up, was part of “Aguinaldos” (Christmas carols) choirs. Blanca is the only ‘furro’ or ‘furruco’ player in Betsayda Machado &
Parranda El Clavo. This particular instrument is a bass drum, only used in Venezuela, similar to a talking drum from West Africa. Blanca began her musical experience in the Santa Rosa de Lima choir in the town of El Clavo, where she started playing the furro, a rare sight for a female player. When she retired from nursing, music became Blanca’s profession as the percussionist for Parranda El Clavo. With the group, Blanca has played at outstanding venues such as the Webster Hall, the Kennedy Center, Maurer Hall, the Williams Center of the Arts, Ballhaus Berlin, and NPR’s Tiny Desk. Back at home, Blanca is part of “Raíces del Clavo”, a cultural and educational project that focuses on teaching and sharing the Afro-Venezuelan cultural and musical heritage with the children of the Barlovento region.
ADRIÁN GÓMEZ es un contador de historias de El Clavo. ‘Ote’, como lo llaman cariñosamente en el pueblo, compone y canta canciones desde muy temprana edad. Posee una amplia experiencia en ritmos como la fulía, el culo’e puya, la mina, el tambor de Aragua, el quitiplás y el San Millán. Es considerado uno de los maestros musicales del pueblo, ya que fabrica instrumentos con sus propias manos. Además, Ote es un compositor talentoso, y su canto es muy particular gracias a su tono de voz único. Adrián es responsable de cantar, tocar la percusión y bailar en Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo. A pesar de ser uno de los miembros más veteranos del grupo, su participación en escena es sumamente enérgica en cada presentación. Junto a la agrupación, ha participado en festivales como GlobalFest, Vancouver Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Sommarscen Festival y La Mar de Músicas. En su pueblo, trabaja en el cultivo del cacao, oficio que aprendió de su padre mientras crecía en el campo. Es el hermano mayor de José Gregorio y Nelson.
Is a storyteller from El Clavo. ‘Ote’, as he has been nicknamed in the town, has written and sung songs since a very early age. He is highly experienced in rhythms such as fulía, culo’e puya, mina, tambor de Aragua, quitiplás, and San Millán. He is considered one of the town’s music masters as he manufactures instruments with his own hands. Additionally, Ote is a gifted songwriter, and his singing is very characteristic, as his tone of voice is unique. Adrián is responsible for singing, playing percussion, and dancing in Betsayda Machado & Parranda El Clavo. Despite being one of the
elder statesmen of the group, his performance is very dynamic in every show. Alongside the group, he has performed in music festivals such as GlobalFest, Vancouver Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Sommarscen Festival, and La Mar de Músicas. Back in town, he works as a cocoa farmer, having learned the trade from his father while growing up on the land. He is the older brother of José Gregorio and Nelson.
NELSON GÓMEZ cuando era niño, tocaba percusión con una lata de leche, y sus conciertos se realizaban bajo un gran árbol en la calle donde creció. Nelson tiene trece años de experiencia en el area de la danza tradicional, dominando ritmos afrovenezolanos como culo é puya, San Millán, tambor de Aragua, quichimba, tambor veleño y sangueo. Además, Nelson posee un T.S.U en informática y es profesor en el area de química en el liceo Bolivariano Creación El Calvo. También es beisbolista profesional (Liga de Beisbol Navegantes del Magallanes (2006). Como músico, Nelson se ha presentado en lugares como Colombia, Cuba, África, Paraguay y Francia. José Gregorio forma parte de Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo, donde se desempeña como percusionista, cantante y bailarín en todos los géneros de tambor, presentándose en importantes escenarios y festivales en ciudades como Washington, Nueva York, Los Ángeles, Carolina del Norte, Varsovia, Berlín, Calgary, Vancouver, Cartagena, Miami, Orlando, Malmö, Amberes, Alcalá La Real y Rudolstadt. Actualmente, vive en El Calvo con su hijo Marlon.
When he was a child, he used to play percussion on a milk can, and his concerts took place beneath a large tree on the street where he grew up. Nelson has thirteen years of experience in the field of traditional dance, mastering AfroVenezuelan rhythms such as culo e’ puya, San Millán, tambor de Aragua, quichimba, tambor veleño, and sangueo. In addition, Nelson holds a T.S.U. (University Higher Technician degree) in computer science and teaches chemistry at the Bolivarian High School Creación El Calvo. He is also a professional baseball player (Navegantes del Magallanes Baseball League, 2006). As a musician, Nelson has performed in countries including Colombia, Cuba, Africa, Paraguay, and France. José Gregorio is a member of Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo, where he performs as a percussionist, singer, and dancer across all tambor genres. He has appeared on
prominent stages and at festivals in cities such as Washington, New York, Los Angeles, North Carolina, Warsaw, Berlin, Calgary, Vancouver, Cartagena, Miami, Orlando, Malmö, Antwerp, Alcalá La Real, and Rudolstadt. He currently lives in El Calvo with his son Marlon.

En constante aprendizaje de las tradiciones musicales, Betsayda se ha formado ampliamente en música afrovenezolana, danzas tradicionales y sincretismo afrovenezolano. Ha realizado extensas giras por Estados Unidos, así como por Canadá, Europa y Asia, junto a sus amigos de toda la vida de La Parranda El Clavo, un conjunto comunitario con más de treinta años de trayectoria en la región de Barlovento, y con Vasallos de Venezuela, un ensamble musical que explora diversos géneros de la música tradicional venezolana. Machado ha compartido escenario con Michael Franti, César Miguel Rondón, Un Solo Pueblo, Los Amigos Invisibles, Aquiles Báez, La Vida Bohème, C4 Trío, entre muchos otros. The daughter of Pedro Machado and Nico lasa Martínez, Betsayda Machado is a folk singer and folklorist from Venezuela. Constantly researching musical traditions, Betsayda has trained extensively in Afro-Venezuelan music, traditional dances, and Afro-Venezuelan syncretism. Betsayda has toured the USA extensively, as well as Canada, Europe, and Asia, with lifelong friends Parranda El Clavo, a thirty-year-old community group from the region of Barlovento, and with Vasallos del Sol, a musical ensemble exploring different traditional music genres from Venezuela.

NEREIDA MACHADO se recuerda desde niña inventando coreografías y cantando. Se ha formado en danza y canto popular, dominando estilos tradicionales como el joropo, el culo’e puya y el quitiplás. Ha formado parte de agrupaciones de música folclórica como Los Aspirantes del Clavo, Palenque Son Karibe, Cosecha de Tambores y la banda de Rafael “El Pollo” Brito, Obini y Cuatro PG. Su experiencia teatral incluye Billo’s, una espectáculo musical dirigida por Federico Pacanins; Crimen y castigo, de Fiódor Dostoyevski, adaptada y dirigida por Juan Souki; El triciclo de Fernando Arrabal, bajo la dirección de Axel Valdivieso y Humboldt, Ambos Mundos dirigido por Sandra Yajure. Nereida es hermana de Betsayda. Desde su infancia en Barlovento a finales de los años setenta, han sido compañeras de escenario, y junto a La Parranda El Clavo han participado en importantes festivales y escenarios de países como Estados Unidos, Canadá, Alemania, Polonia, Suiza, Suecia, Bélgica, España y Abu Dabhi. En casa, Nereida es la cantante principal de Sin Sospechas Gourmet, un proyecto musical que fusiona música y gastronomía. She remembers herself as a little girl, making up her choreographies and singing. She has trained in popular dancing and singing, mastering traditional styles such as joropo, culé puya, and quitiplás. Nereida was part of folk music groups such as Los Aspirantes del Clavo, Palenque Son Karibe, Cosecha de Tambores, and Rafael “El Pollo” Brito’s band. Her theatre experience
includes Billo’s, a musical revue directed by Federico Pacanins; Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, adapted and directed by Juan Souki; and The Tricycle by Fernando Arbabal, directed by Axel Valdivieso. Nereida is Betsayda’s sister. Since their childhood in Barlovento in the late 1970s, Betsayda and Nereida have been stage partners, and alongside Parranda El Clavo, they have performed in many important festivals and venues in countries such as the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, and Spain. Back at home, Nereida is the lead singer of Sin Sospechas Gourmet, a musical project that mixes music and gastronomy. She also has twenty years of experience as an insurance analyst.
OSCAR RUIZ comenzó a hacer música en las esquinas de El Clavo. Lo apodaron ‘Sonerito’ porque era el más joven del grupo de músicos con quienes tocaba. A los catorce años empezó a cantar salsa con los hermanos Barboza. Su mamá, María Ruiz, es una de las mujeres de mayor edad en el pueblo; tiene 90 años y aún canta. Oscar cree que heredó de ella su pasión por la música. Cantante y compositor.
‘Sonerito’ es una de las voces principales en Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo. Tiene experiencia en diversos estilos afrovenezolanos y afrolatinos. Su voz poderosa, llena de talento, y su presencia escénica lo hacen único.
Junto al grupo, ha llevado su música a escenarios importantes alrededor del mundo, como Joe’s Pub, el Kennedy Center, Skirball Center, Tiny Desk de NPR y Webster Hall.
En su comunidad, trabaja como cacaotero, es decir, la persona que negocia, administra y compra cacao. Actualmente vive en El Clavo con su esposa e hijos. Al mismo tiempo, dirige una escuela de ritmos afrovenezolanos con niños de 4 a 15 años.
Started playing music on the street corners of El Clavo. He was nicknamed ‘Sonerito’ because he was the youngest player among his friends. At the age of fourteen, he began singing salsa with the Barboza brothers. His mom, María Ruiz, is one of the oldest woman in town; she’s 90 years old, and she still sings. Oscar believes he inherited his passion for music from her.
Sonero is one of Betsayda Machado & Parranda El Clavo’s lead singers. He’s experienced in many different Afro-Venezuelan and Afro-Latino styles. Oscar’s gifted, powerful voice and stage presence are unique. Alongside the group, Oscar has played
at essential stages around the world, including Joe’s Pub, The Kennedy Center, Skirball Center, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and Webster Hall. In town, he works as a “cacaotero,” negotiates, manages, and buys cocoa. He currently lives with his wife and kids in El Clavo.

IKA AVALIANI (Diseño De Escenografía) diseñador de escenografía para teatro y cine. Sus colaboraciones con Miami New Drama incluyen Gente Ociosa, de Karin Valecillos, y Queen of Basel, de Hilary Bettis — ambas dirigidas por Michel Hausmann en el Colony Theatre. El diseño de Ika para Try Sestry, de Péter Eötvös, dirigida por Christopher Alden en la Ópera de Ekaterimburgo, fue nominado al prestigioso premio Golden Mask en 2019 como mejor escenografía. Ika’s design for Try Sestry, by Péter Eötvös, directed by Christopher Alden, Ekaterinburg Opera, was nominated for the Golden Mask for best design award in 2019 and the work for Lysistrata at the Rustaveli Theater in 2016 was voted set of the year by the Critics’ Association of Georgia. Ika holds an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.

(Lighting Design) is a Venezuelan Lighting designer with a long career. During his career, he has designed theater, musicals, opera, ballet & concerts. Winner of the Avencrit Prize in 2017 as the best Lighting Design in his country and holder of two Latin Grammy Award certificates for his participation as a light designer and director of photography in Una Noche Comun Y Sin Corriente as a Long-Term Video. In the USA, he had made Lighting designs for companies like Miami New Drama, Gable Stage, Loxen Productions, Arca Images, and others.
JAVIER CASAS (Diseño De Sonido) Es un ingeniero de sonido altamente respetado, reconocido por su trabajo excepcional en sonido en vivo, grabación en estudio y producción musical en escenarios y estudios internacionales. Desde 1992, Javier ha trabajado como ingeniero de sonido en vivo para una amplia gama de destacados artistas latinoamericanos e internacionales, incluyendo a Chyno y Nacho, SanLuis, Los Amigos Invisibles, Luis Enrique, Servando y Florentino, Aquiles Báez, Yordano, Rawayana, Gaélica y Ensamble Gurrufío.

(Sound Engineer/Designer) is a highly respected sound engineer known for his exceptional work in live sound, studio recording, and music production across international stages and studios. Since 1992, Javier has worked as a live sound engineer for a wide range of prominent Latin American and international artists, including Chyno y Nacho, San Luis, Amigos Invisibles, Luis Enrique, Servando y Florentino, Aquiles Báez, Yordano, Rawayana, Gaélica, and Ensamble Gurrufío. His expertise has supported performances in prestigious venues such as Venezuela’s Teresa Carreño Theater
and with the Miami Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Eduardo Marturet. He served as Chief Engineer for The Black Room Sessions at Light F/X Studios in Miami, earning a Telly Award in 2024. LUIS ACOSTA (Diseño De Video) es un diseñador creativo con enfoque en experiencias en vivo y cine. Su formación en comunicaciones y su participación tanto en el mundo del arte como en la publicidad impulsaron su carrera desde muy temprana edad. Nacido y criado en Venezuela, Luis se unió al equipo de Imaginarios como aprendiz antes de completar su licenciatura en Comunicación Social en la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. Cuatro años después, ya era el director creativo de la empresa. Ha creado contenido y experiencias para marcas como Smirnoff, Maltín Polar, Polar Pilsen, Johnnie Walker, Diageo Responsible Drinking, entre muchas otras. Hoy trabaja junto al equipo de ODELIA desarrollando contenido original —tanto gráfico como multimedia— para compartir con el mundo las historias de nuestros artistas. Hijo de una yogui y nieto de un pionero de la radio, Luis es una mente creativa en equilibrio. Aporta una visión artística fresca y un estado mental y espiritual sereno al trabajo que hacemos. (Video Design) is a Creative designer with an emphasis in live experiences and film. His background in communications and involvement in both arts and advertising set his career forward at a very early age. Born and raised in Venezuela, Luis joined the team of Imaginarios as an apprentice before completing his undergraduate degree in social communications at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Venezuela. Four years after he was the company’s creative lead. Having shaped content and experiences for brands like Smirnoff, Maltin Polar, Polar Pilsen, Johnnie Walker, Diageo Responsible Drinking and many others; today he works along the ODELIA roster in developing original content, both graphic
and multimedia, to share the stories of our artists with the world. The son of a Yogi and grandson of a radio pioneer, Luis is a balanced, creative mind. He brings a fresh artistic vision and serene mental and spiritual state to the work we do. As founder, partner and visual content director at ODELIA, he is taking it in one breath at a time.
CONSTANZA CELSI (Diseño De Utilería/ Supervision) es una artista chilena establecida en el sur de Florida. Está encantada de regresar a Miami New Drama como Diseñadora de Utilería para la temporada 2024–2025 de Viva La Parranda. Anteriormente ella trabajó como Asistente de Utilería en Birthright. Otros de sus créditos incluyen Heisenberg, We Will Not Be Silent y El Huracán en GableStage. Constanza tiene una Licenciatura en Artes Teatrales de la Universidad Internacional de Florida y continúa desarrollando su carrera tanto en la producción escénica como audiovisual. Está profundamente agradecida con su familia y amigos por el apoyo incondicional que le brindan.
(Props Design/Supervision) is a Chilean artist based in South Florida. She is thrilled to return to Miami New Drama as Property Designer for the 2024–2025 season of Viva La Parranda. Previously, she served as Property Assistant on Birthright. Her other credits include Heisenberg, We Will Not Be Silent, and El Huracán at GableStage. Constanza holds a Bachelor of Theatre Arts from Florida International University and is continuing to build her career in both stage and screen production. She is deeply grateful to her family and friends for their unwavering support.
STEVE COVEY (Programador De Proyecciones/ Mapper) es un nativo de Miami que ha trabajado en teatro y eventos en vivo desde 2001. Recientemente se desempeñó como diseñador y programador de proyecciones para Summer Shorts – Flipping the Script de City Theatre, la 18.ª gala anual del Adrienne Arsht Center y su programa inmersivo para estudiantes, The Busy Bees: A Great Adventure. is a Miami native working in theater and live events since 2001. He was most recently a projection designer and programmer for City Theatre’s Summer Shorts - Flipping the Script, the Adrienne Arsht Center’s 18th annual Gala and their immersive program for students, The Busy Bees a Great Adventure. Having worked alongside great local companies such as these, as well as Miami New Drama, Zoetic Stage, GablesStage and others, has led him to 2 Carbonell nominations and a win in 2023. He’s excited to continue along this path while receiving support and, of course, being humbled by his wife and two teenage daughters.

GUNILLA ÁLVAREZ (Subgerente de Producción) es una Production Stage Manager con mas de 25 años de experiencia en teatro, música, danza, ópera, artes visuales, eventos corporativos y multidisciplinarios. Se formó en el Complejo Cultural Teresa Carreño, donde fue Stage Manager del Ballet Nacional de Caracas, bajo la dirección del maestro Vicente Nebrada. En Uruguay, trabajó con el Ballet Nacional del SODRE bajo la dirección del maestro Julio Bocca y luego asumió la Dirección Técnica del Auditorio Nacional del SODRE. Más tarde, se integró a la Dirección Artística y de Producción del Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires. Ha sido líder técnica en giras internacionales por Europa, Asia y América. Su compromiso, visión y excelencia técnica, han sido fundamentales para el éxito de cada producción en la que participa.
(Assistant Stage Manager) is a highly experienced Production Stage Manager with over 25 years of professional work across theater, music, dance, opera, visual arts, corporate events, and multidisciplinary productions. She received her training at the Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex in Caracas, where she served as Stage Manager of the Ballet Nacional de Caracas under the direction of Maestro Vicente Nebrada. In Uruguay, she worked with the National Ballet of SODRE under Maestro Julio Bocca, later becoming Technical Director of the National Auditorium of SODRE. She went on to join the Artistic and Production Direction of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Gunilla has also served as technical leader on international tours throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Her commitment, vision, and technical excellence have been essential to the success of every production in which she participates.
CLAUDIA URDANETA (Coordinación De Producción Caracas) es una destacada gestora cultural originaria de Venezuela, cuya carrera ha abarcado continentes y múltiples disciplinas dentro de las artes escénicas. Es licenciada en Ciencias Políticas por la Universidad Central de Venezuela y tiene una Maestría en Administración de las Artes Escénicas de la Universidad de Nueva York (NYU). Entre 2017 y 2023, se desempeñó como Directora de Programación de Miami New Drama en el Colony Theatre de Miami Beach. Fue Presidenta del Centro Cultural Chacao en Caracas (2014–2017), donde transformó la institución en un dinámico centro de creación artística y participación ciudadana. Durante más de una década, fue Directora Ejecutiva del Festival Internacional de Teatro de Caracas (2001–2014), un evento de proyección internacional, reconocido como uno de los festivales de teatro más importantes del mundo.
Su liderazgo en el ámbito de la danza comenzó como Directora Ejecutiva de Danzahoy (1988–2001), compañía venezolana de danza contemporánea aclamada en escenarios internacionales y galardonada con numerosos premios nacionales e internacionales. En reconocimiento a su excepcional contribución a las artes escénicas, Claudia recibió en 1999 el Premio Nacional del Artista en Venezuela como Mejor Productora de Danza Contemporánea.

Is a distinguished cultural leader originally from Venezuela, whose career has spanned continents and disciplines in the performing arts. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Master of Arts in Performing Arts Administration from New York University. From 2017 to 2023, she served as Director of Programming at Miami New Drama at the Colony Theatre in Miami Beach. Prior to that, she was President of the Centro Cultural Chacao in Caracas (2014–2017), transforming it into a vibrant hub for arts and civic engagement. For over a decade, Claudia was the Executive Director of the Caracas International Theater Festival (2001–2014), a globally recognized event acclaimed as one of the top theater festivals worldwide. Her leadership in dance began with her tenure as Executive Director of Danzahoy (1988–2001), Venezuelan contemporary dance company, acclaimed on international stages and recipient of numerous national and international awards.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the performing arts, Claudia was awarded Venezuela’s National Artist Award in 1999 as Best Contemporary Dance Producer.
VYANA PRETI RODRIGUEZ (Directora Adjunta) es una educadora, directora teatral, dramaturga y líder comunitaria nacida en Venezuela. Es cofundadora y directora ejecutiva de la Escuela de Teatro Musical de Petare, una escuela de teatro gratuita ubicada en una de las comunidades más vulnerables de América Latina. También fundó y dirige el Departamento de Educación de Miami New Drama, desde donde impulsa programas artísticos con gran impacto en escuelas públicas. Vyana es cofundadoa de Lugar Común, una organización enfocada en las artes literarias y dedicada a amplificar las voces hispanas en Estados Unidos. Es autora y directora de varias obras infantiles, entre ellas la trilogía de Ratón y Vampiro y La Cabeza de Tomás. Su labor en Miami New Drama fue reconocida con el premio Remy a la Contribución Destacada en Teatro Infantil en el sur de Florida. Recientemente, fue galardonada con la beca Aurand Harris 2025 de la Children’s Theatre Foundation of America para escribir y desarrollar una nueva obra. (Associate Director) is a Venezuelan-born educator, theater director, playwright, and community leader. She is the co-founder and executive director of the Escuela de Teatro Musical de Petare, a free theater school in one of Latin America’s largest underserved communities. She also established and directs the Education Department at Miami New Drama, bringing impactful arts programs to public schools. Vyana co-founded Lugar Común, an organization rooted in the literary arts and focused on amplifying Hispanic voices in the U.S. She is the author and director of several children’s plays, including the Ratón y Vampiro trilogy and La Cabeza de Tomás. Her work at Miami New Drama was also recognized with the Remy Award for Outstanding Contributions to Children’s Theater in South Florida. Most recently, Vyana has been awarded the 2025 Aurand Harris Grant by the Children’s Theatre Foundation of America to write and develop a new play. Michel is the book writer and director of The Golem Of Havana, a critically acclaimed original musical that has been produced across the country, including a sold-out extended run at

He previously served as Managing Director of Zoetic Stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, where he produced numerous world premiere and award-winning plays and musicals. As an actor and director, Richberg has appeared on national television, radio, and in theaters and concert venues across the country, originating numerous roles, including in Confessions of a Cocaine Cowboy at Miami New Drama prior to his tenure as Managing Director. He is a Drama League Award winner, Carbonell Award winner, multiple Silver Palm Award winner, twice named Best Actor by Miami New Times, and was named a Miami Leader by the Miami Foundation.
