At our annual planning meeting this year we set our Ten Year Target to learning about, adopting and promoting Conscious Capitalism which is defined by four basic tenants:
1. Elevating humanity through business begins with knowing WHY your company exists. Without this, you have no compass to find and stay focused on your True North. Businesses should exist for reasons beyond just making a profit. We see profit as a necessary means to achieving your purpose not as an end in and of itself.
Jerrol’s WHY, our passion, the reason we come to work is simply to Help People. That is what we do.
2. Recognizing that the interdependent nature of life and the human foundations of business, a business needs to create value with and for its various stakeholders (customers, employees, vendors, investors, communities, etc.).

Conscious Leaders understand and embrace the Higher Purpose of business and focus on creating value for and harmonizing the interests of the business stakeholders. They recognize the integral role of culture and purposefully cultivate Conscious Culture.

This is the ethos – the values, principles, practices – underlying the social fabric of a business, which permeates the atmosphere of a business and connects the stakeholders to each other and to the purpose, people and processes that comprise the company. All companies have a culture, but not all companies intentionally develop a culture that promotes their values and purpose.

Craft of the Month
Pony Bead Melts
Continued from previous column
2. Fill your pan with beads. (the suncatcher works better with transparent beads) Spread them evenly into one layer. They don't have to be hole side up.
3. Bake at 375 for approximately 20-25 minutes or until they have all melted together. Make sure to open a door or window cuz they are kinda smelly.
4. Remove from oven and let cool. Once cooled it should come out of the pan easily.
5. For the sun catcher attach a string and hang it in the light. (I drew some leaves on mine with a sharpie)

Here is a fun idea for your pony beads. Melt them into a place mat, sun catcher, or coaster.
This is what you'll need:
Pony beads
- You’ll find over 60 styles and colors in stock
Baking pan
Cooking spray
Oven
1. Choose the size baking pan you want to fill. I used a 9x13 for the placemat and a small cake pan for the coaster. Spray with cooking spray and wipe extras off with paper towel. This will help you get it out later.

Last year I discovered this great book on our shelves and it sums up my feelings this time of year. I am with Bruce, I get grumpy as the snow begins to melt, the days grow longer and the temperature rises. I realize this is my opinion, like most of mine, it is not widely shared by most people.
Something I am sure we can agree on is that this book is a great addition for any kid’s library.
