76 Years and Never Stronger!

Last month at our Seventy-Sixth anniversary event we gave away 2,000 cups of Grandpa Don’s Root Beer Float ice cream. 1,500 of those were in the store and our Delivery Team took another 500 to our Business Clients! It is always a blast to see multiple generations creating memories during their visits to us. This year was extra special being able to share that with the fourth generation of Jerrol’s, my Niece Amy McClelland, who joined our Team in April after managing Bright Side Books in Flagstaff, AZ for the past five years.

She is now leading our Frontline Sales Team, so you will be seeing more of her and a little less of me not that I am going anywhere. I continue to love my “job” and have no intentions of leaving anytime soon. Although when the time comes I know the future of Jerrol now in good hands.

And speaking of seeing me, Amy instigated a Dress Like Rolf day the only issue I had is they have too much hair!

#2 - Improve

Our anniversary events have always been a chance to catch up with past Team members and Clients. This year was no exception. Shelby Holloway stopped by, she spent the summer in 2010 alphabetizing books. Several people I graduated from high school with some 40 years ago and haven't seen since stopped by as well.

Community Close-Up

Jerrol’s has been a part of the community for more than 75 years and in that time, some pretty incredible people have walked through our doors. And our drivers get to meet and interact with fascinating people and businesses up and down Kittitas County. We thought it would be fun to introduce these community members and businesses to you and share their unique stories.

To kick it off, we’re not traveling far! In fact, we’re not even leaving the store. If you’ve ever needed help with an order or had to call Jerrol’s with a question, chances are you’ve spoken to our very own, Jessica Bacon. Jessica started working at Jerrol’s back in 2000, making her a veteran employee. When Jessica first started, she worked behind the cash registers, but now she’s behind the scenes making sure our delivery drivers have everything they need and our clients are taken care of. I think it might be possible that she has our entire inventory memorized, and knows mostly everyone on a first name basis.

Jessica has called the Kittitas Valley home for the past 35 years. She and her husband, Frank, have two sons, three dogs, chickens and pigs. In fact, Jessica and her husband own Bacon’s Homegrown Pork. With a last name like Bacon, they kind of had to!

When she’s not at Jerrol’s or helping her husband with their pork business, Jessica loves exploring the beautiful hills in our area on the family’s side-by-side. Even their Pug, Chloe, gets to go along on those rides! Don’t tell the other two dogs, but Chloe is definitely the favorite.

We love Jessica and we love all the people we have the honor of serving in our community. Stay tuned for more stories. Who knows, you could be next!

Supplies:

*Containers from around the house (I used a milk jug, fabric softener bottle, iced coffee container and a whipping cream pint. You could also use an empty toilet paper roll or a jar)

*Paint

(I used spray paint and regular craft paint)

*Glue

(I used hot glue as well as some modge podge)

*Decorations

(I used pipe cleaners, foam cut into leaf shapes, glitter, dried flowers, and real leaves from my yard)

These Fairy Houses were a first for me and lots of fun. I can't wait to put them in my garden. (Hopefully my dogs won't chew them up) And who knows maybe we'll catch a fairy! Happy summer guys!
