“This visit was mostly for butcher paper. I love that I can come in and use the supplies you have and measure markers to do it myself. I have also had staff help me in the past and been super thankful for that! It is easy to access this unique need! Thank you!”

Don & Irene Williams, my grandparents, open the doors to Jerrol’s for the first me on Saturday, June 21st, 1947. Less than two years a er the end of WWII. Back then the full name was Jerrol’s Handy Stop and we were a Soda Fountain. The name came from their two sons, JER from Jerry, my dad, and ROL from Rolf my uncle and name sake with an apostrophe S for ownership.
The store was 18 feet by 30 feet and located right beside their house at the stop sign at C St & University Way where the stop sign in our east parking lot is today. We have always been on the same piece of dirt.
That apostrophe S was a big deal to Irene. She was a first genera on emigrant from Norway when that wasn’t so cool. Her son Rolf had cerebral palsy. She carried the s gma of being that emergent with the spas c son. Ownership was her way to push back on that image. She was a force of nature!
I am grateful to have been a small part of con nuing what they started 77 years ago. I consider ownership to be a responsibility, and a privilege. I am a caretaker for the next genera ons represented currently by Amy who is well into her second year in her posi on as Fourth Genera on. Michelle and I are proud to have her as a partner.
Jerrol’s would not exist with out our Clients, Team members and vendors. The Jerrol’s story is your story and I am honored to be a part of those rela onships.

In honor of Jerrol's 77th anniversary this month I thought we should make some party hats.
Here's what you'll need:
Pretty paper...card stock or regular Hat template (@Jerrol's) Scissor
Hole punch
Ribbon
Decor (pom poms, stickers, bows etc)
1. First cut out your template and trace it on your pretty paper. I used some old wrapping paper and cardstock.
2. Cut out your hat and fold it into a cone shape by putting the flap inside the slit.
3. Grab some decor and bedazzle your hat.
4. Punch a hole on each side and attach ribbon to make the chin strap.
5. Put on your hat and party!!!

“There are some themes, some subjects, too large for adult fic on; they can only be dealt with adequately in a children's book.” Philip Pullman. Just like Mr. Pullman, I o en find the best way to understand something different is to learn from a children’s story. In honor of Pride Month I pulled together my favorite books that help teach kindness and understanding. You will find all of these tles, and many more LGBTQ+ books on display in the store this month, but we have them available always!
