The Day After The day after Thanksgiving, we finished our final cleaning from the big meal the day before, put the house back together after hosting 15 fully vaccinated family members and got the turkey soup going. Jordan and her family spent the night so Michelle fixed her famous potato pancakes with the leftover mashed potatoes that morning.

After breakfast we packed up the truck with wood and snacks and made our annual pilgrimage to our favorite campground shelter. This has become a tradition for us; allowing Michelle, Gerik and I to share our love of the outdoors with our son-in law and granddaughters. This year we had enough snow on the ground that Rowan, our oldest granddaughter, clocking in at just Rowan making snow under 4 1/2 could have a snowball fight and make a snow angel. angels

Metztli, the youngest granddaughter, at just 16 months has started walking and she took off through the snow like a pro. Rowan got both her feet and hands soaked and cold so she spent some time at the fire drying out her socks and gloves.

Local Group Author Signing Saturday, December 18th 1:30 to 3pm Our annual holiday author signing will return Saturday, December 18th 1:30pm-3pm. This is your opportunity to meet some of our community’s authors. Each will be signing copies of their books and would be glad to share how they went about writing and publishing them.

Can you believe Christmas is almost here!! My favorite thing to do in the evenings during the holidays is to listen to Christmas music, light some candles and make homemade Christmas gifts.

So this year I decided to make candleholders out of clay.

Here's what you'll need: DAS clay (1pk for SM and 2pk for LG) Rolling pin Paint pens Candles Star cookie cutter Hot glue 1. Knead...this takes awhile, and roll out your clay.

2. Use the cookie cutter to cut out your stars or a small plate to cut out a circle. I also rolled some "snakes".

3. Use your candles to make a hole in the stars or the circle where you want your candles. (I had to use a knife to help make the hole) 4. Cut out some 1" strips of clay and wrap it around the bottom of your candle and cut it to make a "holder". Put the "holder" in the hole and smooth them together. (It helps to reach up from underneath the hole) 5. For the stars I wrapped a "snake" around the bottom of a candle to make a "holder". Then I put another star on top (star, "snake", star) and smoothed them together.

6. For the last holder I just wrapped a "snake" around the bottom of the candle, around and around until I ran out of "snake" 7. Bake your clay according to the package directions.

8. After they are cooled down paint designs on them with paint pens.

(I had a few cracks in mine but just filled them with hot glue) Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
