WeAre Just Getting Started!
As Jerrol’s approaches our 76th anniversary on June 21st, 2023 there is a new chapter beginning. Amy McClelland, my niece, has joined our Team as Frontline Team Leader. She comes to us from Bright Side Bookshop (www.brightsidebookshop.com) in Flagstaff Arizona where she was their store manager for the past five years. Amy brings to us a desire to help people, a love of reading and sharing books, and is a burst of sunshine. Best of all she seems willing to put up with me for now anyway.
Amy, my daughter Jordan, wife Michelle and I have spent the past 16 months discussing and creating a plan for Amy’s arrival. Part of that process was to uncover our Family Mission Statement. It reads as follows-
Jerrol’s is our family’s greatest legacy. Our overarching goal is to see that Jerrol’s continues to be a viable business for the next generations to take over, should they choose and earn it. While the business may change with each new leadership team, we will look to the future while honoring the past, using our core values to guide our decisions.
Family Goals
Jerrol’s will be family lead and owned for the 4th & 5th generations and beyond Be a leader in our community

In exploring possible succession, I have come to learn that this will be the greatest test of my leadership to date. If we are successful, Jerrol’s is on its way to another 50 years of helping and serving the people in our community.

Community Close-Up
By Brook Buckingham
Jerrol’s has been a part of the community for more than 75 years and in that time, some pretty incredible people have walked through our doors. And our drivers get to meet and interact with fascinating people and businesses up and down Kittitas County. We thought it would be fun to introduce these community members and businesses to you and share their unique stories.
To kick it off, we’re not traveling far! In fact, we’re not even leaving the store. If you’ve ever needed help with an order or had to call Jerrol’s with a question, chances are you’ve spoken to our very own, Jessica Bacon. Jessica started working at Jerrol’s back in 2000, making her a veteran employee. When Jessica first started, she worked behind the cash registers, but now she’s behind the scenes making sure our delivery drivers have everything they need and our clients are taken care of. I think it might be possible that she has our entire inventory memorized, and knows most everyone on a first name basis.
Jessica has called the Kittitas Valley home for the past 35 years. She and her husband, Frank, have two sons, three dogs, chickens and pigs. In fact, Jessica and her husband own Bacon’s Homegrown Pork. With a last name like Bacon, they kind of had to!
It’s a Party & You’re Invited

Fun Facts about Jerrol’s:
• Jerrol’s opened its doors for the first time on Saturday, June 21st, 1947 as a Soda Fountain.
• Don & Irene Williams, our founders and Rolf’s grandparents, started the store in their front yard right at the stop sign where C St & University Way is today.
• Neighbors baked pies which Don Williams purchased and resold.
• The name "Jerrol's" is a combination of Don and Irene's two sons, Jerry and Rolf. They took the first three letters of each name and added an apostrophe S for ownership. JER ROL ’s
• At one time there was an entire Pet Department with Fish, Birds, Reptiles and small animals.
• Jerrol’s once had a full record as in vinyl department.
When she’s not at Jerrol’s or helping her husband with their pork business, Jessica loves exploring the beautiful hills in our area on the family’s side-by -side. Even their Pug, Chloe, gets to go along on those rides! Don’t tell the other two dogs, but Chloe is definitely the favorite.
• At one point, Panty Hose was our best selling item.
• There was a Mobil Gas Station in the middle of our east parking lot from the 1950’s to the 1980’s.
• Our original sign was above our door for 71 years before it blew down in August 2018. You can see a video of it falling at -

Rolf’s Monthly Office Tips
The way you organize your office can have a direct effect on how efficiently you run your office. In particular, office files and folders can become a disorganized mess if you don’t establish a uniform filing system. Once you get your file cabinet, folders and labels, you have a couple of options for organizing your files and folders in a practical manner so that you and your employees can access materials quickly.
Category Organization Step 1
Purchase a series of large hanging file folders in addition to standard manila or color file folders if you have a variety of different categories of files to organize. For instance, you would use this file organization system you might have a group of employee files, some customer files, invoices for individual suppliers, and signed contracts to organize.
Step 2
Write the name of each category you're organizing on each label included with your large hanging file folder. For instance, "Invoices" or "Contracts." If you need more space, you can set aside more than one hanging file folder for each category. Slide the label into the plastic tab and insert the tab into the top of each hanging file folder.
Step 3
Order each manila file folder for each category alphabetically by the last name or company name. When done, you'll have separate piles in alphabetical order.
Step 4
Place the large hanging file folders in your drawers first order them by priority. For instance, if you need to pull invoices frequently, put those at the front of each drawer. You can also order the hanging file folder categories alphabetically as well.
Step 5
Insert each pile of manila folders into the correct hanging folder.
Someone asked me the other day if I'd ever made a sensory bottle. Since my answer was no...I thought I'd give it a try.
These are super fun to make and provide endless entertainment for all.
Here's what you need:
Plastic or glass bottle
Goo gone (to get any sticky label off)
Oil ( vegetable or baby)
Glitter and sparkles
Food coloring
Water
Super glue
1. Decide if you want glass or plastic for your bottle. And peel the label off. Goo gone gets any leftover label off but be careful cuz it can make a plastic bottle kinda cloudy if you use too much.
2. Add oil to your bottle. Fill it about half full.
3. Add glitter and sparkles to the oil. This part is quite fun. You can also add beads or little toys too.
4. Put some food coloring in some water and add it to your oil/glitter mixture. Fill to the very top and put the lid on.
5. Play around with your bottle to see if it's to your liking. When you get it how you want it put super glue in the lid and screw if on for the last time. Wait for glue to dry and voilà...enjoy.
