Thank YOU First Responders!!!

This photo was taken on Sunday, June 27th from my driveway from a car loaded with Michelle, Gerik, Thor our dog, a PC, Laptop, and our critical files. Five minutes earlier we were finishing unloading the weeks groceries. Our power had been off since 10am like a whole lot of people. Michelle mentioned that she was seeing smoke out the west side of the house. I stepped out to the east and saw this coming.

Less then five minutes later we were facing the road and ready to leave. Michelle snapped this photo just before we left. Due to an amazing response by our local fire departments the fire damage was far less then I would have thought as we left.

Watching a helicopter drop water on a wall of fire 10 feet from the neighbors shrubs and house is both spectacular and heart wrenching. I can’t say enough about the response and effectiveness of the emergency response.

My heart goes out to Fred who lost his home and the neighbors who lost outbuildings.

I would like to say THANK YOU to all the first responders that day and the PUD crews who where able to restore our power after replacing 17 destroyed poles. Both groups of people work day in and day out to keep us safe and keep the power on. It is easy to take them for granted until you truly need them.

Frontline Team Changes Our Secret Sauce

My name is Saige and I have loved the time I have spent learning and growing at Jerrols.

The last two weeks I have been surrounded by such a fun, friendly environment. Staff and clients have been so welcoming and patient with me as I continue to grow in confidence and efficiency.

Our Team Members are the secret sauces that has allowed us to not only survive for the past 74 years, but to be thriving as a retail brick and mortar store in the age of Amazon. I am blessed to have a Team full of smart, energetic, and positive individuals that LOVE to help people.

I am well aware that they are the reason YOU choose to shop with us. Not a day goes by without Clients telling me about something a Team Member has done that made their day. From sending a Thank you to helping carry a purchase to your car.

The current trend in retail and most businesses is to reduce the number and amount of human interactions by having self serve check outs, eliminating customer service positions and utilizing more online. Our direction is more human interaction. It is why we are here.

We have recently added two new Team members, Erica and Sage, and Jorge is leaving us to start his journey toward Medical School. It is hard to have someone leave the Team, but it is exciting to see new people interested in joining. Each helps us improve and helps make us a better business.

The relationships that we build with our Team Members is truly lifelong and just as important as the relationships we build with you, our Clients, which are also lifelong and even multi generational.

In the end it all comes down to people.

My name is Erica and since the first time I walked in, I could tell that Jerrol’s was different. I am grateful to have been offered an opportunity to join their team. I love helping people and that is exactly what we do here.

I really appreciate everyone being so friendly and helpful. I am excited to come in each day and learn something new. I look forward to meeting you soon!

-Erica As some of you may have noticed, I have snuck back onto the Jerrol’s team in recent months. This was after I hit a slight bump in my journey to becoming a medical scribe.

Thankfully, Rolf was gracious enough to help me out! However, I have since been able to set myself up for success, and will be starting my scribe career at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital this July!

Once again, I would like to thank each and every one of my team members for their support these last three years. I sincerely believe that I would not be where I am today without them as a positive influence in my life. The many friendships and life lessons will be cherished and maintained for the rest of my life!

I believe this will be my last farewell, so thank you all again for making my time here amazing! Until next time.

Craft of the Month

Recycling Made EASY!

Felt Succulents

Jerrol’s is your recycling headquarters.

Your batteries, inkjet and toner cartridges can all be recycled through Jerrol’s. This is a FREE service for our Business Clients. Corrie and Taylor are glad to pick up any of these items to recycle during your delivery. You are also welcome to drop them off at the store.

I love having plants around but they don't love me...I can't seem to keep any alive. So these felt Succulents are perfect for those of us without a green thumb.

The following batteries need to have the terminals taped with packing tape to prevent fires during storage.

• 9 Volt batteries • Rechargeable batteries • Round “coin” batteries We recommend that large amounts of batteries, full boxes or buckets, be taken directly to Kittitas County Solid Waste office located at 925 S, Industrial Way in Ellensburg.

Here's what you'll need: Felt Succulent template (at Jerrol's) Scissors Pen Hot glue Ribbon or pot 1. Start by cutting out your template. There are three sizes and you'll need them all.

2. Trace all three templates onto your felt twice. You need a total of 6 cutouts, 2 of each size.

3. Cut out your felt and trim off any pen marks.

4. Put a dot of hot glue in the middle of the biggest cutout and put another on top. Continue on with a dot of glue between each cutout until you have all 6, with the smallest cutouts on top.

5. Cut out a price of ribbon and hot glue it to the back of your succulent to make a bookmark. Or you can just put them in a pot.
