BERKLEY STROKE REHABILITATION | KANSAS CITY, MO The studio will embrace the understanding of Stroke survivors’ health and wellness from a holistic approach, which integrates prevention and healing, physical, social, and mental health, environment and local context, current and future technology, ergonomics, human experience, and process efficiency and care effectiveness into an integrated design solution. The leading design concept behind this project aside from the desire to create a facility of replenishment was to create a visual distinction between inpatient and outpatient facilities with a strong connector between the two. The two wings as shown by the above rendering are inpatient (left) and outpatient (right) with the Wellness bridge connecting them. The two wings were designed to have a more home-like design to create a sense of warmth and welcoming. The Wellness bridge was created as a contrast to the wings in a more industrial design. This project was completed in pairs. Partners shared equal responibility in each phase of the project and the creation of final deliverables was evenly distributed.
