It is with great pleasure and pride that I extend warm gree ngs to each and every one of you as the Editor-in-Chief of our esteemed South West region. As we navigate through the intricacies of community engagement and impac ul ini a ves, I am delighted to share some of the remarkable stories and accomplishments that have shaped our region in recent mes.
Over the past months, our dedicated members have demonstrated unwavering commitment and passion towards crea ng posi ve change in our communi es. From organizing impac ul projects to fostering meaningful partnerships, our efforts have truly made a difference in the lives of those we serve. Our region has been at the forefront of promo ng health and wellness awareness, entrepreneurship, leadership and the likes, conduc ng numerous campaigns and workshops to educate and empower individuals and through strategic collabora ons with like-minded organiza ons and stakeholders, we have been able to amplify the impact of our projects and reach a wider audience.
I would like to express my hear elt gra tude to all our members who have contributed relessly to the success of these ini a ves. Your dedica on, passion, and hard work are truly commendable, and I am immensely proud to be part of such an inspiring and dynamic team.

Dear esteemed members,
As we step into the second quarter of the year, I want to extend my warmest welcome to all our esteemed members and reflect on the past month's memorable events. The 2024 JCI Nigeria Southern Conference, held from April 18th to April 21st in the vibrant city of Uyo, has le an indelible mark on our collec ve experience.
The conference, which drew over 200 members from various parts of the country, was graced by the presence of the Interna onal Vice President of JCI assigned to Nigeria, Rosemary Mothuso from Botswana, and the JCI Nigeria President, JCIN Amb. Sandra Ekene Efemuaye, adding a global and na onal perspec ve to our discussions and ac vi es.
One of the highlights of the Southern Conference was the diverse range of training sessions offered, including workshops on Speak Like a Boss, emo onal intelligence, and an Entrepreneurship masterclass. These sessions saw significant par cipa on from our members, aligning with JCI's mission to empower young leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to posi vely impact their communi es.
Feeding during the conference was not just a necessity but an opportunity for networking and camaraderie. Each meal me provided a pla orm for members to engage in meaningful conversa ons, exchange ideas, and forge new connec ons.
In addi on to the enriching training sessions, the conference also featured a variety of recrea onal ac vi es to foster team building and relaxa on.
From board games to swimming ac vi es to par es and the likes, because truly “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”.
The climax of the conference was the award ceremony, where outstanding individuals and local organiza ons were recognized for their contribu ons and achievements. It was a moment of celebra on and inspira on as we applauded the dedica on and hard work of our members in driving posi ve change within our organiza on and beyond.

- Aerobics
Day 2 of the electrifying 2024 Southern Conference, IsongOwongo, burst into ac on with a burst of energy and enthusiasm as par cipants kicked off the day with an invigora ng aerobics session. With each team bringing their A-game, the atmosphere crackled with determina on and vitality as delegates rallied to revitalize their fitness prowess.
Aerobics isn't just about breaking a sweat; it's a dynamic fusion of movement and music that elevates both body and spirit. As par cipants stretched, twisted, and lunged to the rhythm, endorphins surged, boos ng mood and mo va on for the day ahead. Beyond the physical benefits, aerobics enhances cardiovascular health, strengthens muscles, and improves flexibility, laying the founda on for a vibrant and resilient body.
During the aerobic session, bonds were forged, and friendship flourished, crea ng a sense of unity and shared purpose among par cipants. Energized and empowered, delegates emerged from the aerobics session ready to tackle the challenges and harness the opportuni es that lie ahead.

Moreover, it was a springboard, propelling a endees to gear up for a series of impac ul events that awaited them throughout the conference.

At the just concluded 2024 JCI Nigeria Southern Conference tagged #IsongEnwongo 2024, we had tailored training sessions designed for our delegates to transform their leadership poten als and career trajectories to meet the demands of the labour market.

Par cipants were ac vely engaged through group discussions, interac ve ac vi es and prac cal ac vi es. At the end of the training sessions, par cipants be er understood all the training topics and ac onable strategies to use the lessons learned in real-life situa ons.
Surveys were conducted a er the training sessions to get feedback from the par cipants on ways the skills development team could do be er, about 80% of the par cipants men oned they were amazed and fulfilled with the sessions given past experiences and requested for more me to be allocated to training for more insigh ul engagements.
'Learning never exhausts the mind' and we look forward to more engaging and insigh ul training at all other conferences at the Area and Na onal levels.

In a significant stride towards enhancing educa on and fostering sustainable development, Baobab+ has joined forces with JCI Abeokuta Hills to bring solar ligh ng to schools in Ogun State. This ini a ve aims to revitalize the reading culture among secondary school students and create a conducive learning environment.
The "Unleash A Child's Poten al Project" was launched at Bap st Girls' College Idi Aba on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The project is in line with Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 7." Our efforts were focused on fostering entrepreneurship, raising awareness about mental health, and providing professional development opportuni es for our members.
We kicked off the month with the virtual launch of our SME Bootcamp Project. This ini a ve is designed to equip SME owners with the necessary tools for success in today's challenging economic landscape.
Our opening ceremony featured a thought-provoking discussion on "Posi oning for Growth and Sustainability in the Face of the Current Economy," led by President Anuoluwapo Ajala and Vice President Dolapo Oyeleke.
Addi onally, we hosted a virtual training session conducted by Ayo-Bankole Akintujoye, focusing on the reasons behind small business failures. The project will con nue in the coming months with mentorship development opportuni es for par cipants.
Con nuing our commitment to mental health awareness, we partnered with for the JCI ASO second phase of our campaign tled "Save a Soul." To engage our members and the community, we organized a "Health Walk for Mental Health" at Jabi Park, Abuja. The event was well-a ended and brought together dis nguished members from both JCI chapters, including 2005 Na onal President JCI Sen Anifowose Kelani and 2023 Na onal President JCI Sen. A airu B. Abdullahi.
Our monthly tradi on of Skill-Up Weekend con nued in April, providing invaluable learning opportuni es for our members. JCI Senator Temi Alade-Mustapha led a session on , while 2023 Na onal President JCI Sen "Developing a strong saving culture"

These ac vi es represent our ongoing commitment to personal and professional development, community engagement, and making a posi ve impact in our society.
The Mental Health Awareness Project was a joint collabora on between JCI Con nental Lagos and JCI Aso which was divided into 3 phases.
The 2 phases which have been done in previous months were;
Phase 1: A virtual session for both Local Organisa on members on mental health lecture
Phase 2: A 9km health walk held through Jabi Lake/Park, Abuja to create awareness of mental health
The 3rd phase was executed at the Medium Security Custodial Centre by counseling the inmates, providing free dental services, distribu ng toiletries such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, dona ng of educa onal books and clothing, and having one-on-one counseling sessions on mental health issues.
A total of 96 inmates were present at the Mental Health Awareness Presenta on and 62 inmates registered for the dental checkup and 10 had private counseling.
The SME Mentorship Program is designed to assist over 30 SMEs with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for business success with the primary goal of establishing sustainable mentor-mentee rela onships.
Sub-divided into three phases, the first and second phases which entail applica on and onboarding, engagement, and training were completed in previous months.
For the third phase, assessments were carried out and successful mentees made it to the next stage of the program. We delegated mentees to their mentors and the program kicked off, with general classes to educate mentees and weekly assessments to monitor the progress of the program and handle related concerns efficiently.
Successful mentees (10) who completed the program will be presented to the General assembly in our next physical business mee ng and allow them to pitch their Business for support.
Skill Up
The May Skill Up Weekend was held virtually and featured two insigh ul sessions aimed at enhancing our members' knowledge and capabili es in key areas relevant to their professional growth.
The first session, focusing on Product Development, was a comprehensive explora on of the processes involved in crea ng and launching successful products.
Par cipants were engaged in interac ve discussions, and the session equipped a endees with the knowledge needed to start a career in product development.
The second session centered on Digital Marke ng for Business, offering par cipants valuable insights into the strategies and tools necessary for effec ve online marke ng. Led by a seasoned digital marke ng professional, the session provided par cipants with ac onable strategies to enhance their online presence and drive
b u s i n e s s g r o w t h .
The May Skill Up Weekend was a resounding success, furthering our commitment to providing meaningful development opportuni es for our members. By focusing on cri cal areas such as product development and digital marke ng, we are helping our members stay compe ve and thrive in their professional journeys.
The commit to quality health, medical and dental outreach took place at 39 Shi a Street, Dopemu Agege community on the 6th of April,2024. This event was held to commemorate World Health Day.
We had partners including Medical Doctors, Registered Nurses, Den sts, Flour Mill Nigeria (FMN), Agbelebu founda on, Agege Local Government and representa ves from the Lagos State AIDS Agency, who a ended to the people of the Dopemu community by providing consulta ons, tes ng, and treatments.
The outreach began with par cipant registra on, with over 208 individuals registered. They had their blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and body weight checked by the Nurses. 50 children had malaria parasite test done.
Addi onally, they received consulta ons from medical doctors and were given prescribed drugs as needed. Dental care services were provided adequately. Par cipants also received comprehensive health educa on on adop ng healthy lifestyles.
The event was covered by a media crew from TVC, which aired the outreach on TVC News. Interviews were conducted with the Chairperson, the President, Vice President, and some par cipants.
We were also honored by the presence and support of JCI Ikeja members, who par cipated in the medical processes as well. Overall, the outreach was a resounding success.
Introduc on: The online event tled "Staying at the Forefront of Emerging Technologies" was successfully hosted on April 5th, 2024, at 6:00 PM Nigerian Time via the Zoom pla orm. The event aimed to explore and discuss the latest trends and innova ons in the tech industry, focusing on how individuals and businesses can adapt and thrive in the rapidly evolving landscape of emerging technologies.
This program is an occasion of great significance where we aim to put together to inspire young individuals to be successful as entrepreneurs and to make business owners upscale their businesses.
As we efficiently engage entrepreneurs which is a designed to be sustainable for the future, following the SEE agenda.

Feedback and Success Metrics: Post-event surveys and feedback indicated a high level of sa sfac on among par cipants, with many expressing apprecia ons for the informa ve sessions, interac ve format, and networking opportuni es. Key success metrics included posi ve feedback ra ngs, increased knowledge and awareness of emerging technologies, and networking connec ons established during the event.
Conclusively, the "Staying at the Forefront of Emerging Technologies" event was a resounding success, bringing together a diverse group of professionals and enthusiasts to explore, learn, and collaborate on the future of technology. On Saturday, May 18th, 2024, the Innova ve Enterprise Seminar took place at L'eola Hotels, Maryland, drawing a endees from various loca ons for a transforma ve session themed "Embracing Change: Recipe for Business Growth and Development." The seminar featured prominent speakers: David Lanre Messan on embracing change, Seunfunmi Bolanriwa on design thinking, Damilare Fakorede on leveraging technology, and Adegoke Omotola on leadership and digital transforma on.
The event began with insigh ul speeches by Chairperson JC Babatunde Akindele and Local Organiza on President Omowunmi Fakoya. David Lanre Messan and the panelists led dynamic discussions and interac ve ac vi es, enhancing par cipants' understanding of embracing change for business growth. Online par cipants also engaged in the session.
Damilare Fakorede emphasized using ar ficial intelligence for business innova on, while Seunfunmi Bolanriwa highlighted the importance of design thinking and customer-focused research. Adegoke Omotola discussed how leaders can transform businesses through technology adop on, data-driven decisions, and enhanced efficiency. The speakers' professionalism and real-life examples made the presenta ons clear and engaging.
The seminar included a panel session where speakers interacted with the audience, making it an impac ul experience. Dis nguished guests included JCIN President Sandra Efemuaye and NVP District 1 Idara Michaels, along with notable figures from other local organiza ons, adding diversity to the event.
Businesses were pitched, networking opportuni es flourished, and gi s were won by par cipants. As the seminar concluded, a endees le with valuable insights and a renewed commitment to applying the principles of embracing change and leveraging technology for business transforma on.
The April General Assembly of JCI Akure was held on 28th April, 2024 at the Royal Birds Hotel, Alagbaka GRA, Akure. The event was a ended by the local organiza on's members, Intending members and guests who gathered to discuss the chapter's achievements, upcoming projects, and strategic plans for the remainder of the year. The mee ng served as a pla orm for the members to share their insights, voice their concerns, and collaborate on ini a ves that would posi vely impact on the vision of our Local Chapter. The proceedings were marked by a sense of camaraderie and a shared commitment to the organiza on's mission of promo ng personal development, community involvement, and global understanding.
The business mee ng was a produc ve and informa ve gathering for the local organisa on The mee ng began with the induc on of new members who were warmly . welcomed a ertheir oath and introduced to the rest of the JCI Akure family. This was followed by a review of the local organisa on first quarter's financial reports, providing valuable insightsinto the organiza on's performance and growth trajectory. Also the Projects and events executed were all presented while challenges faced during the prepara ons were discussed and solu ons profered should such challenges be encountered during subsequent projects.
The la er half of the mee ng was dedicated to training sessions, where members had the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge, equipping t h e m w i t h t h e necessary tools to c o n t r i b u t e m o r e effec vely to the local o r g a n i s a o n ' s o b j e c v e s .
Overall, the mee ng was a resounding success, reinforcing the team's commitment t o t ra n s p a re n c y, con nuous learning, and sustained progress. The General Assembly was well-a ended, with a total of 26 persons present, including our esteemed trainer, Mrs. Temitope Momoh (President of Ondo State Ins tute of Quan ty Surveyors, Ondo State Chapter). Members present demonstrated a keen interest in the subject ma er (Purposeful Intent to Make an Outstanding Impact for Humanity) and ac vely engaged in the discussions, seeking clarifica on and providing valuable insight throughout the session.

JCI Akure in an effort to create strong family bond amongst members and intending members organized an hiking to the ancient Idanre Hills on the 1st of April, 2024. The hiking which was well a ended by members, intending members, friends and family was full mind blowing moments as we visit historic sites on the Idanre Hill.
Idanre Hill, located in Ondo State, Nigeria, has become a popular des na on for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The challenging yet rewarding hike up the hill offers more than just physical exercise; it provides an opportunity for bonding and improving overall health
The scenic views from the top of the hill, coupled with the sense of accomplishment, make the journey worthwhile. The feelings created a deeper connec on within the par cipants as we navigate the winding paths and overcome the physical obstacles together. Moreover, the strenuous ac vity helps to promote cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles, and boost mental well-being, making the Idanre Hill hike a holis c experience that benefits both the body and the mind.
On April 7, 2024, JCI Rockcity had a mental awareness seminar to commemorate Interna onal Mental Health Day, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
The theme was: My Health, My Right: Overcoming Depression Amidst an Economic Downturn.
The trainer was Dr. Jibril Abdulmalik of the Asido Founda on. The project goals are:
● Create awareness for mental health, including emo onal, psychological, and social well-being.
● To create awareness that mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood to old age.

The webinar resulted in:

The topic for this month was “EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES AND CUSTOMER SUCCESS.”
JCIN Amb. Ayodeji Oliver spoke extensively on the topic. Our take-home was:

As part of our ongoing efforts to build quality leadership, JCI Rockcity organized a JCI PRESENTER TRAINING on This was May 25th. a physical training session that had 8 par cipants in a endance.
The training was highly impac ul, and all the par cipants expressed gra tude to JCI Rockcity for organizing this valuable session. The trainer for the session was JCI Senator Henry Adedokun.

On May 28th, 2024, JCIN FEDPOFFA embarked on an impac ul project, "Pad a Girl Child," aimed at promo ng menstrual hygiene and challenging societal norms and taboos surrounding menstrua on.

The project began with an educa onal session at Ansarul Islam Senior Secondary School Offa, where girls were taught about "Breaking the S gma: Challenging Societal Norms and Taboos Surrounding Menstrua on" under the global theme "Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld." The session was led by guest speaker Mrs. Oyebanji Olubukola, General Hospital Offa NHIA Desk Officer, who addressed the girls' ques ons an
The management staff of Ansarul Islam Senior Secondary School Offa expressed their sincere apprecia on to JCIN FEDPOFFA for bringing this program to their female students, acknowledging the posi ve impact on their m e n s t r u a l h y
The project team then proceeded to St. Clare's Anglican Girls' Grammar School Offa, where the students showed excep onal par cipa on and ac ve engagement during the program. The girls listened a en vely, asked ques ons, and made valuable contribu ons to the d i s c u s s i o n .
At the end of the training, the girls were able to iden fy and share what they had learned during the program.
The project team distributed a total of 550 pads to the girls in both schools, promo ng menstrual hygiene and d i g n i t y .
The success of the Pad a Girl Child Project was made possible through the collec ve effort of the JCIN FEDPOFFA, donors, and supporters who contributed through dona ons, promo on, and other forms of support. This was aimed at enabling human capacity development of members and the focus cuts across career, personal and professional development. Asides all of these, considera on was put into equipping interested par cipants with three par cular skill set which are Graphics Design, Meta ads, (Facebooks) and Content Wri ng because these skills are in high demand.
Also it was of utmost importance to also enlighten the par cipants beyond the need to get skilled or upskill but also make them see the need to mone ze these skill set and increase their earning poten al. Hence, it is themed ''POUND SAPA”.

As part of prepara ons for the upcoming Heritage Safety Awareness Event, a delega on from Junior Chamber Interna onal Nigeria, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) chapter paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Ogun State on Special Du es and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Honorable Damilola Otubanjo on 3rd of May, 2024.
The visit aimed to seek support and collabora on from the state government for the upcoming event, which focuses on promo ng safety awareness among young people. The delega on, led by Adekunle Daniel, President of JCIN MAPOLY, comprising 9 delegates, represen ng JCIN MAPOLY.
