Dear JCI Southwest Family,
In the true spirit of camaraderie and commitment, I wish to begin by extending my heartfelt appreciation to all SouthwestArea Local Organisation Presidents,AreaTeam Members, JCI Leaders, and the vibrant members of JCI Nigeria within the Southwest region.Your unwavering support, dedication, and passion have continued to drive our mission forward, ensuring that the JCI Initiative, our JCI RISE Projects, and the vision of our esteemed National President, JCINAmb. Sandra Ekene Efuemaye for the SEE Agenda, has become a living reality.
Together, we have showcased the power of unity, impact, and transformation in our community, and I couldn't be more proud of the accomplishments we've achieved over the last two months.
August and September were particularly eventful, marked by significant milestones, impactful collaborations, and an ever-increasing commitment to the JCI philosophy. Let's take a moment to reflect on some of the key highlights that shaped this period.
1.The Professionals:ACocktail Networking Event held on the 25thAugust 2024
On the 25th ofAugust 2024, I had the privilege of attending a remarkable event hosted by JCI Ota, taggedThe Professionals:ACocktail Networking Event. It was a well-organized gathering that brought together a diverse group of young professionals, entrepreneurs, and JCI members, creating a vibrant atmosphere for meaningful networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
The event was designed to foster connections among professionals across various industries, providing a relaxed yet dynamic environment for members to engage, exchange ideas, and build relationships that would strengthen both personal and professional growth. With cocktails in hand and great conversations flowing, the evening was filled with opportunities to discuss potential partnerships, share career insights, and explore ways to drive impactful change within our communities.
JCI Ota's initiative in organizing such a forward-thinking and engaging event is commendable, and I was truly impressed by the level of professionalism and creativity displayed. It was an evening of growth, camaraderie, and inspiration, and I left the event feeling even more motivated to continue driving the mission of JCI across the Southwest region.
Kudos to the leadership of JCI Ota for a job well done!
2. The 2024 Northern Conference – tagged "LOKACIYAYI" held from 29thAugust - 1st September 2024 in the great city of Kano
This memorable event began with a visit to the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Sanusi Lamido. I was honoured to attend alongside the Host EVPs, the Host President, the Conference Director, and the Interim Executive Secretary of JCI Nigeria.The conference itself provided an excellent platform for networking, discussions on youth leadership, and strategies for driving impactful change across regions. It was a fantastic way to strengthen our relationships with our Northern counterparts while reinforcing our collective commitment to the future of JCI Nigeria.
3. The 40th Convention & 41st Investiture of JCI Ikeja (14th September 2024)
The historical 40th Convention of JCI Ikeja was a spectacle of excellence, professionalism, and organizational pride. Witnessing the 41st investiture of new leaders, it was clear that the baton of leadership is in capable hands, and our movement continues to thrive through the development of young, dynamic changemakers. I commend JCI Ikeja for organizing such an impeccable event and for keeping the spirit of JCI alive and thriving for 40 years!
4. JCI Continental Lagos Owanbe GeneralAssembly (15th September 2024):
What an exciting and dynamic day it was!The Owanbe-themed GeneralAssembly perfectly blended our rich cultural heritage with the formalities of JCI business. Dressed in traditional attire, members experienced firsthand how we can conduct professional and business meetings with flair and cultural pride. Kudos to JCI Continental Lagos for maintaining the principles and philosophy of the organisation, while adding a fun, unique twist that celebrates our cultural roots!
5. The JCI Lagos Prestige GeneralAssembly (15th September 2024):
I had the pleasure of attending yet another remarkable GeneralAssembly hosted by JCI Lagos Prestige.The meeting was insightful and brimming with innovative ideas, further reinforcing the commitment of our members to the growth and advancement of the organization. Each interaction served as a reminder of the value of unity, collaboration, and continuous personal development.
As we transition into the final quarter of the year, I am more confident than ever that we will continue to rise to the challenges ahead, maintaining our momentum and further amplifying our impact. I want to sincerely thank all team members who have worked tirelessly to grow our brand awareness and create lasting impacts within the Southwest region.Your dedication is truly commendable, and it is because of you that we have achieved these remarkable milestones.
I also want to remind each and every one of us that the journey is far from over There is still much work to be done, and together, we can accomplish even more. Let's continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve, leveraging our collective strength to make a lasting difference in our communities.
As we enter the final stretch of the year, I urge all JCI Southwest members to stay engaged and continue to play active roles in our various initiatives. The highlight of the OYDES event was the Skill Acquisition and Empowerment Program (SAEP), a vocational skills training program that equipped 30 youths between the ages of 18 and 40 in Abeokuta, w

The OYDES event brought together a dynamic mix of 500 participants, including 30 online delegates and 50 volunteers, all eager to make a difference The day was filled with valuable insights from a diverse lineup of speakers: 1 keynote speaker, 4 panellists, 1 theme speaker, 1 moderator, and 2 hosts, who led us through a series of panel discussions, breakout sessions, and theme-focused c o n v e r s a t i o n s
The SAEP program was the culmination of the OYDES event, where participants showcased their newly acquired skills and received certificates. The program's emphasis on entrepreneurship and financial literacy has further empowered participants t o p l a n
In conclusion, the OYDES event and SAEP program have made a significant impact on the lives of young people in Ogun State We are proud to have provided a platform for them to acquire new skills, build confidence, and connect with like-minded individuals. Ikereku Community, Laderin,Abeokuta, Ogun State.
On September 7, 2024, we converged at the Ikereku Community in Laderin to provide free medical services to 150 elderly individuals
Care for the Aged Medical Outreach is an annual initiative of JCI Rockcity The outreach was a heartfelt initiative dedicated to improving t h e w e l l - b e i n g o f t h e e l d e r l y
With the support of generous sponsors, we were able to offer free medical services to elderly individuals in the community, providing them with much-needed healthcare attention a n d t r e a t m e n t
The outreach was a remarkable success, with 150 elderly individuals aged 50 years and above receiving free medical services, including health screenings and treatment. We also distributed relief items such as food and clothing to beneficiaries, bringing joy and comfort to their lives. Our team of 20 volunteers and 3 OGSHIA partners worked tirelessly to ensure the outreach ran smoothly, and their dedication was truly i n s p i r i n g
This outreach demonstrated our ongoing commitment to uplifting and supporting our community's most vulnerable members. We remain dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the elderly and look forward to future initiatives.
JCI Continental Lagos has successfully hosted a series of impactful events aimed at personal and professional development, collaboration, cultural exchange, and community empowerment.
1. Olaolu Olabimtan Inter-Faculty Speech Contest (7th September 2024)
This project focused on boosting students’confidence, enhancing public speaking, and improving critical thinking skills.The event provided a platform for self-expression and networking among students.
2. Business and Career Boost for Persons with Disabilities (31stAugust 2024)
In partnership with Jobberman, this forum empowered individuals with disabilities under the theme "Empowered toAchieve More." Highlights included panel discussions, one-on-one counseling, CV reviews, business advisory sessions, and networking opportunities.
JCI Continental Lagos established a twinning partnership with JCI Cotonu Soleil, aimed at cross-border collaboration to create global impact, emphasizing the organization’s borderless mission.
Following the September Business Meeting, members and guests enjoyed an Owanbe party showcasing Nigeria’s cultural diversity. Participants dressed in traditional attire, enjoyed local dishes, and participated in games and entertainment.
JCI Continental Lagos, in collaboration with theAfolabi Olabimtan Foundation and JCIN Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, organized the MedReach Project to address healthcare needs in the Ilaro community.The initiative aimed to provide free healthcare services to 200 individuals, but over 300 community members attended, reflecting the community's significant need for such interventions.
The event offered free medical tests for critical conditions such as HIV, malaria, blood pressure, and diabetes, emphasizing the importance of early detection in managing these health issues.Alongside the tests, free medical treatment and necessary medications were provided to those in need.
The MedReach Project successfully bridged healthcare gaps, providing immediate care and ensuring that participants left with a better understanding of their health and access to essential treatment.The initiative showcased the power of community collaboration in improving lives and promoting well-being.
The prestigious JCI Abeokuta held its 40th Annual General Meeting on the 8th of September, 2024, at Conference Hotel,Abeokuta.
The AGM was eventful, featuring the presentation of reports from all Board Members, the induction of nine new members into our Local Organization, and the election of officers for 2025 JCIN Amb Olabamiji Fashola emerged as the President-elect, while JCIN Amb. On Saturday, September 7, 2024, the JCI Olubadan Local Organisation successfully held its highly anticipated Leadership and Business Summit 2.0 at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.The event, themedTransformational Leadership and Innovative Business Strategies for the Future, gathered JCI members, business professionals, and aspiring leaders for a day of insightful discussions and networking opportunities.
The summit commenced at 10 a.m. with a vibrant red carpet session, where attendees were interviewed about their expectations for the event.The formal proceedings began with the Local Organization President, JCINAmb. JulietAkinkunmi, calling the meeting to order.The JCI Creed was recited in unison, followed by the Nigerian NationalAnthem and the Pledge, setting the tone for a day focused on leadership and growth.
In her welcome address, President JulietAkinkunmi expressed her gratitude to the esteemed guests, theme speaker, panelists, and delegates who had come together to share their knowledge and experiences.
Keynote Session: Transformational Leadership and Innovation
The highlight of the summit was the keynote address delivered by the theme speaker, Hon.Ayotunde Fatokun, CEO of Edimeri Business Services.
Speaking on the topic,Transformational Leadership and Innovative Business Strategies for the Future, Hon. Fatokun emphasized the importance of adaptability, effective communication, and a clear vision as key attributes of transformational leaders.
He further explored the theme of innovation, highlighting crucial strategies such as:
1. DigitalTransformation– Embracing technology to streamline processes.
2. Data-Driven Decision Making – Using analytics to make informed business choices.
3.Agility and Flexibility– Remaining responsive and adaptable to changes in the business environment.
Hon. Fatokun concluded by urging leaders to integrate leadership with innovation to stay focused on their goals, despite the inevitable challenges and opportunities that arise in the future of business.
The business panel session featured Mr AyodejiAbimbola, Mrs. FunkeTemenu, and Mr Olanipekun Emmanuel, all established professionals with extensive experience in sales, accounting, and business development.The panelists shared practical, real-life scenarios, offering actionable advice on how to start and sustain small and growing businesses.

out for guidance on specific areas of concern.
The leadership panel, comprising JCINAmb. Oluwafemi Nathaniel Marquis, Mr. SeunAderibigbe, and JCI Sen. IbrahimTiamiyu, focused on the theme of Capacity Building forTeams.They discussed strategies for motivating teams, role modeling, and developing leadership capacities within organizations.
The panelists underscored the significance of mentorship and continuous personal development as essential tools for building successful and sustainable leadership structures.
Following the insightful sessions, attendees took advantage of the opportunity to network with fellow participants, panelists, and vendors at the exhibition stands. Members of JCI Olubadan also engaged with the various business exhibitors, further enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by the summit.
The event came to a close at 2 p.m., leaving participants inspired and equipped with new knowledge to take their leadership and business ventures to greater heights.
Overall, the Leadership and Business Summit 2.0 was a resounding success, reinforcing JCI Olubadan's commitment to fostering personal and professional growth among its members and the broader community
World Clean Up Day 2024: JCINYabatech and Trashusers Join Forces Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Nigeria - September 20, 2024
Junior Chamber International Nigeria, (JCIN) Yabatech, in partnership with Trashusers, successfully organized the World Clean Up Day event at Yaba College of Technology.
The event aimed to mobilize volunteers for a massive cleanup exercise, promoting environmental sustainability and community e n g a g e m e n t
Over 40 volunteers, including students, staff, and community members, participated in the event The activities included a cleanup exercise, sensitization campaign, and waste sorting and recycling Volunteers collected and disposed of trash and debris from the college premises, distributed flyers, and engaged with students and staff on the importance of proper waste management.
