Ages 3 and older with a caregiver. Say “Bonjour!” to a bat or “Shalom!” to a sloth in this interactive animal meet and greet program. Visit each station to discover animal facts and meet these amazing animals up close. Designed for all ages, our summer reading program features the idea of conservation awareness. Conservation as a movement focuses on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystems and protecting biological diversity. Look for the logo next to programs centered around this year’s theme.

MEET OUR

This summer, the Launch Pad will host our second Maker-in-Residence, Shannon Lee. Shannon is an independent animator, visual artist and educator. Her films infuse science fiction, magical realism, and personal experiences through experimental narrative and animation techniques. Shannon’s animations have been featured at international festivals and she currently teaches at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Stop by the Launch Pad to learn about animation with Shannon and sign up for her 3-part program to create your own puppet and animations.

2D PUPPET MAKING AND ANIMATION WITH THE MAKER-IN-RESIDENCE

Mondays: June 24, July 1 and July 8, 5:30-7 pm Ages 12 and older. In this 3-part series program, learn to design and create a puppet, then use it to make a short animation with Shannon Lee. Animations and puppets created during this program will be on display in the library at the culmination of the Maker-in-Residence program at the end of the summer.
