What Are Our Gifts And Strengths How Can We Monetize Them Together When people ask us how we do it, I’ve said do you recall the opening paragraph from Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities, “it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness.” That’s how it felt at first.

er as husband and wife for more than a decade now, and if you’ve done it then you know, at times you’ve asked yourself “are we crazy?” only to turn around at the end of the day and say “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” “The beginning stages of working with your spouse can feel like trying to force a porcupine down a garden hose,” Angelike says. “But then you begin to realize what works and what doesn’t. That’s when you begin to realize that it’s almost the inversion of a normal job where there’s a job description and you try to fill it. And from the beginning, there were two significant things we had in common, the first was that we both shared the strong opinion that we would not conform to what was normal or expected. Even when it came to our engagement photos, most people were doing traditional beach photos wearing white linen, we did a 180, the anthesis of that, we splashed around in the mud and played tackle football. The second, and more important thing we had in common was, like our marriage, our business would always have a third person in the middle of it, that being God.

We believe in and enjoy doing everything together. Like two toes in a sock, we’re tight. Yes, at times its hard, at times we disagree and get heated and unlike a normal career, there is no home to escape to because we work from home. This is where it would be easy to fail had we a fragile foundation. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. We believe in intentional work. We believe in (Matthew 7:25) partnership. We believe in getting our marching orders from God first, and mentors second. And that right there is what we come back to, foundation. We build as a couple and a family, we want to revive the true concept of a family business. Angelike, myself and our three daughters do life together, and it gets messy. Trust me, our lives look nothing like a Pinterest board most days, but it’s working. Our crew, or “Home Team” as we call it, supports one another with the foundational wisdom of God. We are all in pursuit of big dreams and we have to be willing to do the hard things to achieve them, but not at the cost of our family. We simply wanted to pursue prosperity without it costing us our marriage, peace or identity.

EDITION 8 It wasn’t always like that, in the beginning there were a lot of growing pains, during a time when we were implementing all the things we were learning. There were moments that were robbing us of peace, creativity, togetherness, and the fulfillment but we knew what was at our foundation, we knew God was authoring something for us, and He would tell us what to incorporate and what to leave out. We had to surrender to God and ignore some things business gurus were preaching. It felt counter-intuitive at times, but again We were determined to do things differently though. Eventually it became very clear that we could indeed create a

scendant of Armenian Genocide survivors during World War I and she survived wartime in the Republic of Georgia after the collapse of the USSR. ver the years, Ilona has succeeded in turning her obstacles of war, loss, struggle to fit in, and every “no” in her life into her superpowers. Parunakova was born to a Ukrainian mother and an Armenian father in the Republic of Georgia. Her relatives lived to tell the horrific tales of war from the Ottoman genocide of the Armenian people during World War I. Apart from surviving the terrors of war, Parunakova endured 8

ethnic discrimination for a considerable amount of time. She experienced rejection from her grandparents, was mocked by her relatives, and was denied admission to universities. At that time, she felt rejected and an outcast as a result of the massive political discrepancies between Russia and Georgia. Throughout that discouraging season in her life, Parunakova fought her hardest to stay strong and found the inspiration to pursue further studies and accomplish exceptional feats.
Her Christian faith has been very instrumental in her survival. It allowed Parunakova to see things from a positive perspective—that no matter what happens, God will always be in control of her destiny. Ilona has co-authored the book Legacy Legends with HRH Stephan, Prince of Montenegro and Serbia in 2021.
