I am Nasreen Adam, 44-year old mother to 19-year old son Ishtiyaaq and 3-year old fur-baby Rocky, hailing from Durban, South Africa. My dream was to one day become an Olympic gold medalist for Athletics, but as fate would have it, at the age of 11, that wasn’t meant to be, due to an injury on my right knee that would have resulted in an amputation of my right leg. Fast forward a few years, I’ve worked in Information Technology, I then became a Chef and thereafter went on to work in the Healthcare industry. In August 2013, I was diagnosed with lupus with multiple organ involvement and overlapping connective tissue diseases. I have 17 diagnosed illnesses, plus different allergies to medications, etc. I’ve been for various operations and procedures, plus recovered from 5 other illnesses. My passion now lies in providing support to those suffering in silence from invisible illnesses, raising awareness on invisible illnesses, feeding feral and stray cats, finding homes for some of these fur-babies and also burying the deceased cats. My future goals are to become a Life Coach to invisible illness patients and to establish catuaries in the major cities around the country and work on a bill to present to Parliament for harsher punishment for cruelty to animals.
