ome years ago ST Powder Coatings (Montecchio Maggiore, VI, Italy) introduced in the market a anticorrosive primer based on “sacrificial” filler. The anticorrosive properties of this primer (code EZ-658-7300-010) are very good but it is subject to a small drawback: the sacrificial filler contained in it, which provides an excellent protection against the corrosion, influences negatively the toxicological profile. The primer EZ-658-7300-010, in fact, according to the laws governing the labelling and the transport of dangerous substances, is considered dangerous for the environment and the transportation is regulated by ADR. For this reason ST Research and Development Laboratories have developed a new anticorrosive primer not subject to labelling requirements. The properties of this new anticorrosive primer, whose code is EY-658-7300-001, are due to a new innovative filler. The new filler performs its anticorrosion action not through a sacrificial process, as in the case of EZ-658-7300-010, but rather through an efficient “barrier effect”. The following tables list the salt-spray results of EY-658-7300001 in comparison with EZ-658-7300-010.

lcuni anni fa ST Powder Coatings di Montecchio Maggiore (Vi), ha sviluppato e commercializzato un primer anticorrosivo con carica “sacrificale”. Questo primer (EZ-658-7300010), svolge egregiamente le sue funzioni anticorrosive ma è soggetto ad un piccolo handicap: la carica sacrificale in esso contenuta, che ha il compito di garantire al sistema un’ottima proprietà anticorrosiva, influenza negativamente il suo profilo tossicologico. Il primer EZ-658-7300-010, infatti, secondo le attuali leggi che regolano l’etichettatura ed il trasporto delle sostanze pericolose, è considerato pericoloso per l’ambiente e deve viaggiare in regime ADR. I laboratori di Ricerca e Sviluppo ST, perciò, hanno studiato e realizzato un nuovo primer anticorrosivo non soggetto ad obblighi di etichettatura. Le proprietà anticorrosive di questo nuovo primer EY-658-7300-001, sono affidate ad una nuova innovativa carica che svolge la sua azione non attraverso un processo sacrificale bensì attraverso un efficiente “effetto barriera”. Le seguenti tabelle riportano l’esito dei test in nebbia salina effettuati in parallelo su provini verniciati con il primer EZ-658-7300-010 e con il nuovo EY-658-7300-001.
