ABCITE RECEIVES NSF/ANSI 61 CERTIFICATION FOR USE IN DRINKING WATER SYSTEM COMPONENTS Abcite ottiene la Certificazione NSF/ANSI per l’utilizzo nei componenti dei sistemi di trasporto dell’acqua potabile

xalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading supplier of liquid and powder coatings, has just received certification in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects standards for its Abcite® thermoplastic powder coatings, which are used in a wide variety of industrial applications including pipes and fittings for drinking water systems (Fig. 1). NSF International is a global independent public health and environmental organisation responsible for standards development, as well as product testing and certification. NSF/ANSI 61 addresses the safety of products used in drinking water systems, with particular focus on potential adverse health effects. “NSF/ANSI 61 is a widely recognised industry standard for protecting consumers and public health,” says Fréderic de Borman Chautems, Axalta’s Abcite product specialist based in Switzerland. “Our Abcite coatings offer outstanding corrosion and UV protection and are extremely tough, but we wanted our customers to be aware of how safe they can be when in contact with drinking water. Our Abcite certification to NSF/ANSI 61, achieved only after a thorough audit and stringent testing process, helps demonstrate that Abcite is truly reliable.” To achieve certification, Axalta had to 1 submit information on product formulation, toxicology and use, open its plant for audit, provide NSF International with a sample for laboratory product testing and undergo a full toxicology evaluation. This stringent process is designed to ensure that no potentially harmful chemicals leach into drinking water. All certified Abcite products will be identified by an NSF/ANSI 61 certification mark. Axalta is one of a select few thermoplastic powder manufacturers that has earned this global certification. This milestone will allow Axalta to further expand its global footprint into the pipe coating market by offering protective barrier coating solutions, from source to tap, for large and small scale water distribution systems throughout the world. Abcite thermoplastic coatings are formulated for toughness and chip resistance while also respecting the environment, as they contain zero VOCs. NSF International è un’organizzazione globale indipendente che opera nel settore della verifica e certificazione dei prodotti e dei materiali destinati al contatto con alimenti e acqua potabile. La Certificazione NSF/ANSI 61 riguarda la sicurezza dei prodotti utilizzati nei sistemi di trasporto dell’acqua potabile con particolare attenzione ai potenziali effetti negativi sulla salute. “NSF/ANSI 61 è uno standard ampiamente riconosciuto per la protezione dei consumatori e della salute pubblica”, dice Fréderic de Borman Chautems, product specialist Abcite di Axalta con base in Svizzera. “Le nostre vernici Abcite offrono un eccezionale livello di protezione contro la corrosione e gli UV e sono estremamente resistenti. La Certificazione NSF/ANSI 61 di Abcite © Axalta Coating Systems è stata ottenuta solo dopo severe ispezioni e rigorosi test e aiuta a dimostrare la reale affidabilità delle vernici Abcite.” Per ottenere la certificazione, Axalta ha dovuto inviare informazioni sulla formulazione dei prodotti, sulla tossicologia e sull’utilizzo. Inoltre ha aperto i propri impianti alle ispezioni e ha fornito a NSF International i campioni per i test di laboratorio e per una completa valutazione tossicologica. Il processo di certificazione è stato progettato per assicurare che elementi chimici potenzialmente dannosi non filtrino nell’acqua potabile. Tutti i prodotti Abcite certificati saranno identificati dal marchio NSF/ANSI 61. La formulazione delle vernici termoplastiche Abcite si traduce in robustezza, resistenza agli urti e rispetto dell’ambiente grazie ad un contenuto di COV pari a zero.
