October 13, 2024
Summary of the presidents message
The Sunday Bible School on October 13, 2024, was held live, directly from the Mahanaim of Domingos Martins, Espírito Santo, with the participation of pastors Gedelti Gueiros, Alexandre Brasil, and Josias Junior.
Message from pastor Gilson Sousa:
We greet all the brethren with the peace of the Lord Jesus!
We are starting the Sunday Bible School. The topic to be discussed is found on the book of
Revelation: the message of the Holy Spirit resonates among the Faithful Church, in relation to the prophetic markers that are being fulfilled in our days, in preparation for the rapture.
Responses given by various brethren to the formulated questions were presented by Pr. Gilson Sousa, as well as various experiences and testimonies regarding the Sunday Bible School.
Message from pastor Gedelti Gueiros:
I greet everyone with the peace of the Lord. Let’s answer the questions posed.
[Answered through video]
Reading Acts of the Apostles, chapter 5, verses 1 to 10, against whom did Ananias and Sapphira lie? Cite the verse.
Answer: They lied against the Holy Spirit. Verse 3.
“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?’” Acts 5:3
Regarding what we know as “the wicked,” we have the case of Ananias and Sapphira. The opposition happened when they lied to the Holy Spirit. They had a property and lied about the value of the sale of that property. The Lord did not ask them to sell their goods. As we have learned, the Church of the time of Ephesus had an operation of the seven spirits of the Lord. When Ananias comes to Peter and says he had sold the property for so much, Peter discerns that it was not from the Lord. There, Ananias dies. Everyone was seized with great fear. And the operation of the Spirit of Strength was also happening, as the church was growing. [Pr. Jerônimo]
The lie was an opposition to the Holy Spirit. They lied against the Holy Spirit. [Pr. Gilson Sousa]
The opposition is something that will not stop. This has happened from the beginning of the church until today. Many want another story that is not that of the church. They are external declarations that do not mention the prophetic. In praise, we have martyrs who composed praises in difficult times. Hymns like: what I was I am no more, the story of that brother who left (my beloved went down to his garden). [Pr. Gedelti Gueiros]
Question
[Answered through video]
Reading Acts of the Apostles, chapter 8, verses 5 to 24, what was Simon denying when trying to buy the blessing of Baptism with the Holy Spirit? Cite the verse.
Answer: He was denying the Blood of Jesus. Verses 18 and 19.
“And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, ‘Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 8:18-19
The context of this passage shows that Philip went to Samaria and there were many conversions. Through Philip, God worked wonders, which caught Simon’s attention. Peter and John go to Samaria to pray for those who had converted. They prayed and many were baptized with the Holy Spirit. And Simon asked for that power, wanting to pay for that operation. He wanted a ministry for self-promotion, to be fa-
mous, for his name to be revered. But Jesus was using those simple men to baptize with the Holy Spirit. When Simon offers money, he was opposing the operation of the blood. [Júlio Filgueira]
“But Peter said to him, ‘Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!’” Acts 8:20
The Gospel that is there will end in superstition and mysticism. What Simon did was a parallel to what we are seeing.
[Pr. Gedelti Gueiros]
Peter says that the money used
for that purpose was for perdition. “You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God”. It was an opposition to the blood. The blessing we have was bought by the blood of Jesus [Pr. Gilson Sousa]
The letter written to Pergamos was linked to the perverted marriage. The first struggle of the church was against doctrine. The teachers of the first century were martyred. The second church had another opposition, but it was greater: now they would kill. The church in the time of Smyrna was not institutionalized, but it was
a group that was witnessing. But the letter to the church of Pergamos refers to the two-edged sword. He knows what is inside and outside of man: bad habits, among other things.
“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.”
Revelation 2:5
The sword that the Lord placed was the Word that was hidden in the field of man’s interest. That Word would surface bringing a new stage to the life of the church.
Antipas existed in the time of Pergamos and was martyred, having been placed inside a burning bull. The Lord mentions Antipas showing that he was the faithful witness. [Pr. Edson Iahn]
Antipas ends the great perse-
cution. Even after the order to stop killing, Antipas was still killed and martyred. Antipas was the faithful witness. It comes from the word “faith”. [Pr. Gedelti Gueiros].
May the Lord bless us.
