The Preparation of the Church for the Rapture - Revelation - Part XX

Summary of the presidents message

The Sunday Bible School on October 6th, 2024 was held live from the Communications Center of the Maranatha Christian Church in Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, with the participation of pastors Gedelti Gueiros, Alexandre Brasil, and Josias Junior.

Message from pastor Alexandre Brasil:

We greet all the brethren with the peace of the Lord Jesus!

We are beginning the Sunday Bible School. The topic to be

discussed is found in the book of Revelation: the message of the Holy Spirit resonates in the midst of the Faithful Church, in relation to the prophetic markers that are fulfilled in our days, in preparing the Church for the rapture.

Pastor Alexandre Brasil presented the answers given by various (Several?) brothers to the questions posed, as well as several experiences and testimonies regarding the Sunday Bible School.

Message from pastor Gedelti Gueiros:

I greet you all with the peace

of the Lord. Let’s answer the questions posed.

interests. “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,’”

Matthew 13:31

Question

[Answered by video]

Reading Revelation, chapter 2, verses 12 to 17, identify where the opposition emerges from, what name is cited, and what type of opposition you find in the Church of Pergamos? Quote the text.

Answer: Type of opposition: In Pergamos we find an opposition to the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, opposition to faith. An opposition that aimed to replace what was spiritual with what was material. Name cited of the opposition: doctrine of Balaam, doctrine of idolatry. Where the opposition emerges from: material interest.

“But I have a few things against

you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.”

Revelation 2:14

During the Sunday Bible School, content was presented regarding the program “The prophetic plan of the church in

the letters of Revelation” broadcast by Rede Bandeirantes, on October 5th, 2024, which was used as the basis for the questions of the week

Summary of subjects

“The seven periods presented in the letters of the book of Revelation, are historical and prophetic. They refer to the chur-

ch’s journey from its beginning at Pentecost to the rapture. The letters contain all the teachings. It is possible to see aspects from Genesis to Revelation in the letters. The figure that stands out is that of the Lamb and the fundamental element is blood. The figure of the Lamb, Jesus, is underlying throughout the Word, as if it were a scarlet thread.

The Lord Jesus is the center of everything, for He is the Lord of the church. It is possible to see in the letters what pleased and what did not please the Holy Spirit. But the Lord’s desire is that everything works out for the project for which man was called and designated.

In each time of the church struggles were present. Ephesus had a responsibility and fulfilled it. The Lord accepted the work of that church. Her work was doctrine. It is possible to see this work in the Gospels and in the book of Acts.

When we come to Smyrna, we see the suffering which the church went through. The great persecutions came. Thus, at all times, when the Lord raised something, the adversary raised something else to oppose it. Today, we are walking to bring the aspects referring to Pergamos. The word “Pergamos” is of Greek origin. It has its prefix “per” which means perversion, “Gamos” means “marriage”. It was a perverted marriage. At that time, all obstacles came from within and without. The persecution of God’s servants continued. And the Lord identifies that opposition as “the synagogue of Satan”.

“Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but

lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.” Revelation 3:9 (emphasis added)

There was a political interest to try to divert the Gospel, with the aim of pleasing the world of the time. This movement was designated by Christianity. Today, everyone is Christian, but without the experience of salvation. From all this, only the acronym of Christian remained, which does not have an identification with the Eternal Gospel.

Thus, the first opposition was against the Father, which occurred in Ephesus. The second opposition was in relation to the body, the Son, which occurred in Smyrna. The third opposition, in Pergamos, was against the Holy Spirit.” [Pr. Gedelti Gueiros]

“In all the time of the church it is possible to see the wheat and the tares. Those who were sown by the Lord refer to the wheat. These understood and lived the project. However, others did not understand. The book of Acts records Philip’s going to Samaria, where he baptized many. One of

those who was baptized was Simon, the magician. He was a famous man. The Bible says that he had deluded many people. Some understood that what was God’s work. When the apostles saw the growth of that region, they sent Peter and John there. When they arrived, Simon had already been baptized. Simon saw Peter and John praying for people, wonders happening, and offered money so that he could have this power. And Peter left a word to him:

“And when Simon saw that

through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, ‘Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.’ But Peter said to him, ‘Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money! You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.’” Acts 8:18-21

Simon understood that the ministry was a way for him to achieve fame. He wanted the ministry for his self-promotion. But the ministry is not that. The Gospel is a transformation of life.” [Pr. Júlio]

“When we talk about opposition, it is understood as something very blatant (obvious?) and public. But this opposition is born in the heart of man. This is the care we must have, because only those who understand the doctrine can be immune to this opposition.” [Pr. Sergio Souza]

“In Acts 5 we see Ananias and Sapphira. At that time, they had everything in common. Therefore, they sold everything they had and lived in community. Ananias and Sapphira sold a property. They told Peter that they had sold it for a certain amount, however, they had sold it for a higher amount. We see in Peter’s action with Ananias, the operation of the spirit of revelation. The Spirit of fear was also present because Ananias dies for his lie. The issue was not whether he had given that money or not. The issue was why he had lied to the Holy Spirit. It was the lie. The letter to Ephesus reports this issue.

“I know your works, your labor,

your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars;” Revelation 2:2 (emphasis added)

Then comes the wife and tells the same lie. And the Spirit of fear fell upon all. And, also, the Spirit of Strength was present because the church was growing. Ananias was found full of the lie that the adversary had put in his heart. With Barnabas it was different. He sold everything he had and deposited it at the disciples’ feet.” [Pr. Jeronimo]

“The letter to Pergamos was directed to a physical church that existed in that city. What Jesus wanted to say in that letter had a historical and prophetic context. The letter shows a time of the church that an opposition would rise to oppose the message of faith. In previous periods there was opposition. A correlation is always made between the letters of Revelation and the parables of the kingdom. In Pergamos, we see a historical period where several facts would happen, shown in the parable and in the letter. The parable related to faith is that of the mustard seed, reported in Matthew 13. In Pergamos a transition would happen. The Church would lose the characteristic of inner faith. The mustard seed has a latent life. But when the mustard seed is thrown into the field, what is seen is only an external structure, a large tree. This happens in the third century.” [Pr. Gilson Sousa]

“It is necessary to mention Antipas. The text in Revelation 2:13 refers to Antipas, who was

killed among you. Antipas was contemporary with John. He was the leader of the church of Pergamos. He did not remain silent in the face of opposition. Antipas died, thrown into a burning bull, in a pagan temple. For the historical and prophetic period, which is in the year 313, the mixture of state and church begins. Constantine, in 306, becomes the Roman emperor. His father, Constantius, died, and he inherited a part of the Roman Empire in 306. It was a time of conflict. In 313, Constantine decreed an Edict, called the Edict of Milan, showing that the Roman Empire would be neutral with regard to religious manifestations. The other part of the empire was with his brother-in-law, Licinius. Constantine waged a war and killed Licinius, becoming the emperor of the entire empire. In 325, he proclaims the Council of Nicaea and presides over it. In 380, Theodosius I establishes the Edict of Thessalonica and makes Christianity the official religion of the empire.” [Pr. Edson Iahn]

“One of the points mentioned was the opposition that confused faith. But this opposition is also present today. Jesus is the center of everything and wants to be the Lord of your life. You need to put your faith in him. If Jesus is the center of man’s life, there will be no confusion. May everyone be able to receive the Lord Jesus and enjoy a true faith.” [Pr. Sérgio Souza].

May the Lord bless us.
