ACTIVITIES AND THEIR PURPOSE

PURPOSES EXPLAINED

"TRUST GAMES" Confidence games are made to test and stimulate confidence in oneself and in the group. ACTIVITY TO START WITH

"CALL ME ... AND IT ITCHES ME ... CALLS ME ... AND IT ITCHES YOU ‌" Age: 5-8 Presentation game to do during the first days and learn the names of the other children to break the ice. It helps to relax the typical fears of any beginning and establish a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere that we want to create in our clubhouse.

"THE SPIDERWEB" Age: 9-12 They all stand in a circle. The animator hands a ball of wool to one of the participants.

Then the one with the ball of wool begins by saying his name, hobbies, and so on.

When he finishes, he throws the ball of wool to another holding the tip of it. The one who picks up the ball, says his name, his hobbies, etc. until everyone has said his name.

To collect the ball, the name and everything that the person who has thrown the skein has said will be said and will now throw it at him like this until the ball of wool is collected.

"THE SHARK" (Trust) All We place several sheets of newspaper on the ground forming several islands. WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES

"THE THEATER OF EMOTIONS" Age: 5-8 This activity consists of creating a small puppet or theater where we will represent stories made up by the children themselves and where different emotions will appear.

For this we need: Some characters: which can be toys or figurines (that we have at home or in the classroom) or puppets or stuffed animals or stick puppets that we can make at home, for example with characters from our favorite stories.

Two dice: one with basic emotions and one with objects or places.

How to play: The child chooses his characters and rolls the dice twice. Now he must invent (and act out) a story where the two emotions that have come out and the two elements of the other dice appear.

Benefits of this activity for children: It helps to develop verbal expression, helping the child to improve the way of communicating (diction, fluency, clarity, vocabulary‌.).

It helps children to relate to their peers, also having a common goal together, learning through teamwork where some help each other and everyone's work is appreciated.

Children learn to connect with their emotions and reflect on them by having to put themselves in the place of the character they represent, coming to understand different ways of seeing the world in which they live. Allows children to feel more secure helping them to become uninhibited and gain self-confidence.

It stimulates creativity and imagination, so important today where most toys leave few options for this. Through the works that are represented and teamwork, children can learn many values: equality, respect, collaboration, responsibility, commitment, tolerance ‌

WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES "TWEET TWEET" (Trust) Age: 5-8 Pairs are formed. Each pair must agree on an animal sound (tweet tweet, oink oink...) with which they will identify. Once each pair has its own sound one of its members covers his eyes and must follow the sound his partner makes at a certain distance. The point is that the child who goes with his eyes covered did not bump into anyone or anything. After a while, the roles are changed.

"CAR WASHES" (Trust) Age: 5-8 The group becomes a part of a car wash train by performing the appropriate movements of this part of the machine: caress, rub and pat to the person who plays the car roll, as he or she walks through the car wash. "DICTED DRAWING " Age: 9-12 Goal: This activity helps children to empathize with the other but above all to see the importance of making an effort when we want to communicate something to others.

They will realize that it is essential to express well what we want to say, but also to listen carefully to what they say to us. Two people are needed. One will draw following the instructions of the other and then the roles will be exchanged. We need some drawings that the participants will not be able to see in advance. We can print them in advance or use story illustrations. One of the participants sits at a table where they can draw.

Behind him, we will hang one of the illustrations. The other participant should describe the illustration so that his partner can reproduce it as well as possible, taking into account that he does not see it. One must strive to communicate and describe the image in detail, the other must sharpen his listening.

"THE SUBMARINE" (Trust) Age: 9-12 There are formed one or several groups of people who will be arranged in a row holding each other by the shoulders, all except the last one will be blindfolded. The last one will have to drive the submarine by pressing on the shoulders: the pressure on the left shoulder will mean turning to the left; in the right to the right; in both backward stop hearing reverse; in both forward move forward. WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES ""MUSIC, PAINTING, AND EMOTIONS" Both age groups, not a big group activity It is about expressing through painting the emotions that certain songs or melodies evoke in us. We all know well that music has an enormous capacity to awaken feelings and emotions in people. We often say or hear: "this song puts me in a good mood"; "this song is very happy"; "this melody is very sad", etc. Even certain songs have the power to transport us to the past and remind us of certain people or times in our life, and in turn that usually changes our mood. Music awakens memories, experiences and, of course, emotions. How about taking advantage of that to work on the emotional well-being of children? If we also combine it with something that they usually love, plastic expression, success is guaranteed!

It brings together three great disciplines: music, art and emotional education. But above all because it allows children to feel emotions and express them completely freely, without fear of making mistakes. For this, we must be very careful not to judge or give too many instructions, but simply to accompany and observe. Above all, you do not have to tell them how they should feel about the different songs that we are going to hear, nor how they should put these emotions on paper. Because what a melody evokes us is totally subjective. It influences many things, of course, the piece of music itself, but also our previous experience, our state of mind, the associations that each one makes, ...

So the most important thing is to listen and accept with respect and affection, without trying to influence them (even if it seems to us a rather sad piece and to them happy, for example). This is essential because they will discover that they can trust what they feel and that we accept all their emotions equally. This will increase their self-esteem and they will know that at all times they can express what they feel because they will not receive a reprimand for that. It seems unnecessary to say this, but let's think about the times that, almost without realizing it, we deny their emotions with phrases such as: "don't cry, it doesn't matter" or "leave it alone, it's just a toy, take another one, go."

WELL-BEING ACTIVITIES "WHAT DO WE NEED? Paper to paint on: Choose the size depending on the space you have. If it is not enough, go get a card for each emotion. If you have the opportunity (you can always go down to the park) I recommend you do it on a big paper, so that you can also move while painting listening to the music.

GROUP ACTIVITIES

"IMAGINE HOW YOU FELT WHEN..."

This is a big group activity for Wednesday, for example. Tell the children a story (preferably real) describing the situation, in detail, but in an objective way. «Last week I was able to travel and be close to my parents. GROUP ACTIVITIES

"MOVE AS IF WE WERE SPRINGS" (Relaxation and unlocking) We will make all the children move around the room walking with some background music. We will tell the group to move as the rhythm suggests. Suddenly we will stop the music and everyone must behave as if they were springs while the arms, hands and head move freely. When the music is turned on, everyone will continue walking around the room, we will do this several times in order to focus attention on the music and movement.

FRIENDSHIP DAY ACTIVITY

"GUIDE THE BLIND" Couples are formed, one person from each couple blindfolds with a handkerchief or mask, the other child guides the blind, taking him by the hand and making him experience different sensations: walk, dance, run, jump, touch objects of different textures, caress another person, lie down etc. You can put on suitable background music for the occasion. After a while, the roles are changed and the bandage is exchanged.

To do this, he has to trust and be sure that we will see for him, that is why it is a game to generate trust.

ACTIVITIES WITH EXTRA RESOURCES "WHEEL OF OPTIONS" Age: 5-8 This is a great Positive Discipline tool that helps children remember options to channel unpleasant emotions such as anger, anger, rage, frustration, ...

We simply need to sit down with the child at a relaxed and receptive time and make a list of things to do when they get angry instead of yelling or hitting. It is important that we let the child participate actively and that we only try to accompany them without giving the solutions. TRICK: Take advantage while you do the wheel to remind the child that all emotions are good and should be expressed, but that we must strive to find the best way to do it and thus not harm others or ourselves.

ACTIVITIES WITH EXTRA RESOURCES

"THE CALM CORNER" (no activity, extra value) The corner of calm is a physical place where the child can go when she is overwhelmed by her emotions. In it, you will find some elements that can help you regain serenity and tranquility much sooner. The corner of calm can also be used as a Montessori peace table; that is a place where children who have had a conflict can go, to solve their problem in a civilized way and respecting all parties. You only need to have an object of peace (plant, stone, teddy, ...) that is used to mark the turn to speak. It is about expressing our feelings, needs, and/or desires in a respectful way, always remembering the rules of the clubhouse (do not yell, do not insult, ...).

ADVICE: Explain to the children that they should always try to speak from the "me" and not from the "you" which is: "I felt angry when you took the toy from me" instead of "you made me angry because ... "As adults, it is best not to intervene in their conflicts, although our presence can be useful as moderators (never judges) and especially when children are young or have little practice with this tool.
