We could all use a bit of hope, couldn’t we? This lovely new course by Strawberry Field is designed to provide you with a ‘toolkit’ that will help you nurture and encourage hopefulness in your life.

It takes place across six sessions; beginning 23 April, the group will meet on Tuesdays, 10:30am - 12:30pm, in the Prayer Space at Strawberry Field, Beaconsfield Road L25 6EJ.

Woolton Society heritage plaques project

Have you ever noticed the plaques like this one on buildings around the village?

They commemorate notable Woolton people and places. Eight have been installed since 2019, thanks to the dedication of volunteers from The Woolton Society

To take yourself on a local history tour, pick up a pamphlet with details of all plaque locations. They’re available from Woolton Society meetings and the monthly Farmers Market.

Woolton’s Ying Wah celebrates 50 years in business this year!

Our favourite Chinese restaurant and bar was opened by James Chan in 1974. Four years later, his friends Richard and Pauline Ng took over the business and it’s been in the Ng family ever since. Current owner Simon Ng gave us this fabulous old photo of his dad Richard, working behind the bar.

Simon has been helping out at the restaurant since he was so small he had to stand on a stool to wash the dishes! Remembering his childhood in the restaurant he said, "My dad, his English wasn't that good, so he relied on me to get to know the customers. So from a young age, I learned how to interact with people and have a few jokes with them. That's what I still love to do to this day ”

1. Does it cover every penny of rent, oristhereanexcess?

As with car insurance, you often have to make a contribution towards a rent guarantee claim. It’s usually one months’ rent BUT it is possible to find a zero excess policy.

When you buy rent guarantee insurance through Homesure Property, there is NO EXCESS to pay So, if your tenant doesn’t pay their rent, every single penny of that rent is guaranteed. When it comes to buying your policy, don’t settle for anything less than this level of cover.

2. What happens if you need to start anevictionprocess?

The costs of eviction are open-ended but you can expect it to take around five months to regain possession, if your tenants don’t leave when asked The process is likely to set you back least £1,300. That is, of course, if your Iinsurance doesn’t cover you. So, make sure it does.

3. Does it cover the void period after possession?
