I am so very grateful. Thank you, Lord.
Welcome to the Week 8 newsle\er.
Last Saturday we celebrated the Sacrament of ConfirmaMon with our Year 6’s and our Parish. I was very proud of the reverence and commitment shown by all students and I would like to congratulate them on behalf of the school community. Special thanks go to all involved behind the scenes, both at the Parish and School, which made the day so beauMful.
It was a busy week for our Year 6’s as they also a\ended camp. Everyone had a fantasMc Mme and it was wonderful to see everyone having a go at the acMviMes and stepping outside their comfort zone. Well done Year 6’s for your leadership, enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring that your camp was such a successful one.
Semester One reports will be sent home at the end of the term. They are an assessment of the student’s achievement in terms of the Western Australian achievement standards (which describe the expected achievement for students who have been taught the curriculum content for the full year of schooling). In the Semester 1/Mid-Year reports, teachers make a professional judgement in relaMon to the year level Achievement Standard to that point in Mme.
We have some changes to staffing in second semester. Mrs Maureen O’Neill in 4W and Mrs Leanne Griffin in 1B are taking long service leave for second semester. Sadly Miss Chelsea Meborn-Hubbord in 6W is leaving us. I am pleased to announce that Miss Claudia Napoli will be joining us in the 1B class, Mrs Fiona McDonald in 4W and Miss Kerrin Du Toit will be in 6W. Welcome to Infant Jesus School and I look forward to the students geing to know their teachers be\er as they come in over the next few weeks to meet the students and plan with the teachers.
As a school with limited parking, there are ojen issues. Could all parents please note the following:
· The ACROD Parking in the carpark behind the library has, at Mmes, been used by parents who do not require it. Please do not park in this bay, even if it is just for a minute or two.
· Please do not park on the verge/road on Smith Street. We are in the process of trying to get new signs (the old ones are faded) that indicate that there is no standing on the road or verge as parking here obstructs the view of cars exiMng onto Smith Street.
I thank you all for your consideraMon and support in keeping everyone safe.
As the term draws to a close, there are sMll a few events on our calendar:
· Monday 19 June: China Day
· Wednesday 21 June: Cheesie day (K- Year 2)
· Thursday 22 May: Year 6 Winter Carnival
· Friday 22 June: Cheesie day ( Year 3-6)
· Thursday 29 June: End of Term Mass (Year 3)

Enjoy the rest of the week
Mel Allen PrincipalSchools are safe and open for learning. Keeping our schools open and providing face-to-face learning to students is important to their learning, social and emoMonal development, and physical and mental wellbeing. These guidelines have been developed for schools as we learn to live with COVID-19 and are based on current health advice.
The following requirements are in place for staff and students who test posiMve to COVID-19:
· Staff and students are encouraged to remain home unMl symptoms resolve, however they are permi\ed to a\end school / care services, if they choose.
COVID-19 posiMve persons are not required to wear a face mask.
COVID-19 posiMve persons should avoid large gatherings and crowded indoor locaMons.
· COVID-19 posiMve persons may not be able to visit hospitals and other high risk seings.
A close contact is defined as a person from within the same household or a person who has had household-like contact with a COVID-19 posiMve person, during that person’s infecMous period.
· IsolaMon of COVID-19 close contacts is no longer mandated.
· Close contacts are not required to test for COVID-19, however are encouraged to do so.
· Close contacts are not required to wear a mask.
Staff, students and visitors to a school may choose to wear a mask. Staff, students and visitors to boarding faciliMes may choose to wear a mask.
· Staff, students and visitors are expected to adhere to any mask wearing requirements of third-party organisaMons / workplaces.
Health and hygiene
All staff, students and visitors to the school have a responsibility to protect themselves and others from COVID-19. This may be achieved through ongoing promoMon of good hygiene pracMces:
· All members of the school community (staff, students, parents and visitors) should stay home when sick.
· Covering mouth / nose when coughing or sneezing.
· Washing hands regularly for 20 seconds with soap and water.
· UMlising alcohol based hand saniMser / wipes throughout the day.
· PracMces to reduce direct contact should be considered, parMcularly over winter.
At Infant Jesus School we recognise parents as the first educator in their child’s life. Studies have shown the posiMve impact of parents who are involved in their child’s school life and studies.
A Volunteer Workshop will be held on Monday 26 June at 5:00pm in the school library for parents wishing to help in the classroom or a\end excursions with classes.
All parents who have not a\ended previously, need to a\end the volunteer workshop if they wish to support classrooms with special acMviMes.

On Thursday 29 June 2023 all families are invited to join us for a EucharisWc CelebraWon commencing at 9.00am at Infant Jesus Church.
At this EucharisMc CelebraMon we give thanks for St Peter and St Paul whose feast day is 29 June. Both St Peter and St Paul were called by Jesus to share and be the Good News.
St Peter was a fisherman who, with the eleven disciples, worked with Jesus to share his message. He was a leader in the group and a leader in the early Church. He wrote le\ers to help communiMes understand Jesus’ teachings. St Peter was originally named Simon – Jesus called him the ‘rock’ on which he would build his Church. St Peter also worked the first public miracle –curing the lame man at the temple gate. He also welcomed the first person who was not Jewish into the Church. People thought that just his shadow passing by would cure them.
St Paul became the greatest ChrisMan missionary. He was originally called Saul. He was a Jewish pharisee, who, at first, did not understand the teachings of Jesus. He experienced the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus and ajer that dedicated his life to God and sharing his faith with others. For about thirty years St Paul travelled to many places preaching and sharing the Good News. He also wrote many le\ers to the communiMes that he visited so that they could learn more about Jesus and his message.
In the Church calendar the Mme we are in now is Ordinary Time, symbolised by the colour green. It is a Mme for us to look at what happens outside of all the big, exciMng events in the year and in our lives. Stored away inside us is a great potenMal to turn the ordinary into something extraordinary.
We ojen think that who we are and what we do isn’t that special. We are just ordinary people doing ordinary things. It is good to stop and remember that we are in fact very special, made in God’s image.
The green of ordinary Mme becomes then a signal for our growth into some of what might be God’s plan for us.
Hidden inside us is the power to be something extraordinary, a creator of extra-ordinary things, an image of God to others. A way that we can do this is by drawing on the wisdom of other ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things in their lives and inspire us to the same mission.
Consider the postage stamp: Its usefulness consists in the ability to sMck to one thing unMl it gets there.
Josh BillingsWe can do no great things, only small things with great love.
Mother TeresaA single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.
St Francis of AssisiThe world says, “the more you take, the more you have.” Christ says, “the more you give, the more you are.”
Frederick BuchnerThe best exercise for strengthening the heart is reaching down and lijing people up.
Ernest BlevinsAll that we do without offering it to God is wasted.
St John VianneyThis week in Religious EducaMon the Year Two students have been learning about different ways they can pray to God. Jesus taught us that praying is a special way for people to talk and listen to God.
They have learnt that they can pray with their families, in the classroom, at school and in Church.
The Year Two students, wrote their own prayers to God and shared them in a prayer circle. All of their prayers were different. The students enjoyed wriMng their prayers and sharing them with the class and God.
This term the Year Five children have been developing their creaMvity. They have been working hard to depict art pieces that replicate a style of art called “Okuda Art” by Okuda San Miguel.
The students chose and traced an animal, used triangles and colours to make it pop, then got crajy to design a background that represented the habitat of the animal.
The Year Fives have had fun throughout the whole process.
