From the Principal

Lord, as we conMnue this Lenten journey, help us to draw closer to You. Grant us the strength to embrace prayer, fasMng, and almsgiving with a sincere heart. May we seek Your forgiveness and extend compassion to others. Guide us in our reflecMons and lead us to a deeper understanding of Your love. Amen.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our Week 6 Newsle[er,

In this first week of Lent, we conLnue to prepare for Easter through reflecLon, prayer and acts of charity. This term, our mission focus is fundraising for Project Compassion. Run by Caritas Australia, Project Compassion aims to support vulnerable communiLes around the world by raising funds and awareness for various humanitarian projects. A big thank you to our Year 6 and 5 classes who have already organised fundraising events for the school.

Our Year 3 and 5 students have been busy compleLng the WriLng and Reading NAPLAN tests over the last two days and I would like to congratulate them on their efforts and perseverance. With both the ConvenLons of Language and Numeracy sLll to go, we wish them all the very best.

We are excited to celebrate Harmony Day on the 21 March. Students are invited to wear something orange or tradiLonal cultural dress to school. However, please keep in mind that many classes have sport on that day, so it's important to choose aare that is suitable for physical acLviLes. Let's come together to celebrate cultural diversity and promoLng inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

We warmly invite all parents and community members to join us for our Family Mass on Saturday 22 March. This special gathering is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together in faith and community. We look forward to seeing you there.

Parent/Teacher interviews will be held in Weeks 8 and 9. These interviews are an important part of our reporLng schedule, providing a valuable opportunity for teachers to report on your child's progress and discuss their development. Bookings for these interviews go live tomorrow, so be sure to secure your preferred Lme slot. Further details on how to book are included later in the newsle[er.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Parent Teacher Interviews

During Week 8 and Week 9 parents will have the opportunity to meet with their child/ren’s teachers to discuss their progress so far this year.

In line with the new EBA and Teacher Workloads Policy the process changed last year. We believe that this new process is be[er and more effecLve in assisLng parents to book a suitable Lme to discuss their child's progress with their classroom teachers.

Please note that with a designated day for teachers to have their interviews - As a parent your job is to book a scheduled interview using the booking system. You can either choose a face-to-face, or telephone interview. These days have been scheduled on the school calendar already - Kindy (2 April) Pre-Primary (3 April) Year 1 (1 April). Year 2 (24 March) Year 3 (15 April) Year 4 (27 March) Year 5 (31 March) Year 6 (25 March)

This year we will conLnue to use Booked (Formally Parent Teacher Online (PTO), a web-based and app based online booking system for Parent Teacher meeLngs. We know that it will save parents Lme and is quite easy to use. Using this system, you will be able to book the interview Lmes that suit you best from any internet-connected computer or device.

PTO will become acMve for parents to book appointments from Friday 15 March at 2:00 pm. h[ps://www.infantjesus.wa.edu.au/ pto/. Also note that interviews Lmes can only be booked/changed up to one day before the interview so that teachers have adequate Lme to prepare for the interview.

Family Mass

On Saturday 22 March 2025 all families are invited to Mass at Infant Jesus Church at 6.00pm.

During the celebraLon the choir will be leading the singing and parents are also invited to volunteer for the offertory procession or reading. Parents are very welcome to contact the office if they wish to volunteer.

Project Compassion

This Lent, we are called to Unite Against Poverty through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. By taking home a Project Compassion donaLon box or envelope, you’ll be answering the Gospels’ call to care for our global family and walk alongside the most vulnerable.

Your generous support this Lenten Season will enable Caritas Australia to provide life-changing support to communiLes facing poverty, food insecurity, lack of educaLon, and water shortages, while building resilience against future challenges. Together, through faith and acLon, we can bring hope and opportunity to those most in need.

The Year Six class hosted a Zooper Dooper Day to raise money for Project Compassion. By selling these icy cold treats, on a very hot day, they worked together to

5. You recognise that the Principal, staff, parents and students assess your ability to act safety and competently based on your behaviour and decision making, and you do likewise in your assessment of them. You perform your work in a safe and competent manner that is not compromised by personal health limitaLons, including the use of alcohol or other substances that may alter your capacity to act safely. If your health threatens your ability to work safely and competently, you have a responsibility to seek assistance to address your health needs. We would love to celebrate all the good things happening in our community in our school newsle7er. If something special has occurred in your family - this could be the birth of a child, a special anniversary or even a spor=ng or academic achievement (outside of school), we would love to hear from you via the form. We would also like to hear from you if there has been a bereavement in the family or a request for prayers, so that we can ask for prayers from our community.
