he Girl Scouts of the Philippines had successfully elected the new officers and 37 members of the Central Board headed by Dr. Cristina “Nina” Lim-Yuson as the recently elected national president for Triennium 2021-2024. The election was virtually held via Zoom with 300 selected delegates from all over the country. The election was held on the day of the 25th National Convention last May 22-27, 2021 and was also recorded live on Facebook. Among the 19 nominees for the board members, two ilongga scouts were elected as part of the new Central Board Officers.

Ms. Hyacinth B. Bangero ranked first and was also elected as the GSP National Secretary for the Triennium 2021-2024. She is a Chief Girl Scout Medalist batch 2009 from Banate, Iloilo. In 2010, Ms. Bangero was chosen as one of the Most Outstanding Girl Scouts and she attended the 13th International Girl Scout Camp held at Gangwondo, South Korea in 2011. She was also one of the 75 awardees for the National Young Achievers Award last 2015 on the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Girl Scout of the Philippines. Because of her great leadership and exemplary accomplishments, she was given the opportunity to be one of the chosen adults by the executive committee of the GSP to represent the Philippines in the triennial gathering of the 150 countries in 2015. Ms. Bangero is also part of the creative team for the 2020 World Thinking Day Activity held in Pune, India.
The other Ilongga Scout who made it to the Central Board is Ms.
Rose Jade Eugene S. Delgado. She placed fifth in the election and was consequently elected as the GSP National Assistant Treasurer. She was a Chief Girl Scout Medalist in 2013 and was also the chairman of the Senior Planning Board of the Iloilo Girl Scout Council in 2013-2014. She was a Girl Representative of the Visayas Region of the Iloilo Council and an Alternative Girl Representative of the Visayas Region in 2012-2015. During her active Girl Scout years, Ms. Delgado was appointed as the Presidential Appointee of the Former President Benigno Aquino III as a National Youth Sector Representative to the Board, Council for the Welfare of Children in 2015-2018. She is also part of the GSP International Affairs Committee (2019-2020) and Global Youth Leader for Nutrition in line with the GPN Programme in 2018 up to the present. In line with their new positions, Ms. Bangero and Ms. Delgado had media interviews starting with Radio Mindanao Network’s Sunday Special on June 31 with host Double M.l .

These two Ilongga scouts inspired many people including those outside the Girl Scout organization. They are one of the exemplary professionals the GSP honed from childhood. The accomplishments of their works and training from council to international activities greatly contributed to the organization.
