Due to the pandemic, scouting activities like campings cannot be held as we usually do. However, the Iloilo Girl Scout Council conducted “Kamping sa Balay” on May 28 - 30, 2021. This was a virtual way for girls to have fun while learning and feeling the vibe of camping outdoors, from the comforts of their homes. Under the theme of “Padayon sa Tunga sang Pandemya”, there was nothing stopping us from gaining knowledge and enjoying ourselves through this virtual camping. Kamping sa Balay 2, was open to all twinkler, star, junior, senior, and cadet girl scouts. Each day, the girls must accomplish the tasks given to them in their schedule of activities. They documented their accomplishments by taking pictures and/or videos which were monitored through their Facebook posts.
Once a Girl Scout, Always a Girl Scout! This three-day camp was filled with activities that brought enjoyment to the girls who participated. It gave them a chance to acquire knowledge and skills from the activities given. They helped the girls become productive throughout the day. Some activities, such as tiedye, poster making, TikTok challenge, and many more helped to showcase their talents and creativity. The “Kamping sa Balay 2”, was a successful event that made the girls realize that the pandemic we are dealing with, can not hinder us from doing what we love. This odd situation just opens a new opportunity for us to discover more things. Kamping sa Balay 2 helped us realize the possibility of doing what we love amidst this pandemic.
