COVID-19 Updates The coronavirus outbreak in the United States continues to worsen almost everywhere, including in Massachusetts. While hospitalizations are considerably down from the height of the pandemic, it is critical that we remain diligent in our efforts to combat this virus. In October, Massachusetts cautiously began the second part of Phase 3 of the state’s economic reopening plan, allowing lower-risk communities to reopen or expand access to establishments like performance venues, gyms and arcades, but a recent spike in coronavirus cases has put 63 communities, including Boston, at high risk, preventing them from entering Phase 3 of the reopening plan. “It’s going to be like this until we have treatments and vaccines,” Gov. Charlie Baker said in his announcement about Phase 3, stressing that the final phase of the reopening plan will not begin until there is an effective treatment for the virus. Safety on the job remains IBEW Local 103’s highest priority.
