HUMAN SERVICES IS HERE FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS IN NOVEMBER AND ALL YEAR!
November is National Family Caregivers Month, recognizing the immense work done by family and friends caring for a loved one. Family caregivers represent an invisible workforce providing unpaid care to millions. They dedicate countless hours to supporting family members with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or age-related conditions.
Their responsibilities go beyond basic assistance, including complex medical care, emotional support, financial management, and healthcare advocacy. Many enter these roles without warning or preparation, yet learn to navigate medical terminology, insurance policies, and treatment protocols while managing emotional responses. The emotional toll is significant, as caregivers witness loved ones’ struggles while managing their own stress, grief, and uncertainty. Many juggle caregiving with full-time jobs, parenting, and personal health needs, often experiencing exhaustion and isolation.
The City of Fremont Family Caregiver Support Program can help by offering emotional support services. Educational workshops provide practical
skills training, while support groups connect caregivers with others facing similar challenges. Counseling and community resource connections further strengthen their ability to provide care. We acknowledge caregivers’ invaluable contributions to families and the community, while supporting them to continue their vital work with renewed strength. Learn more by calling the City of Fremont Senior InfoLine at 510-574-2041 today.

FREMONT CARES STORIES: HOMELESS AWARENESS
MONTH
Ms. Eva pursued and excelled in a social services career, which spanned over 40 years in the Bay Area. It gave her a profound appreciation for the role of social safety net programs, but she did not think that one day she would benefit from them. She faced displacement and repossessions, increasing her sense of instability during the pandemic. The Winter Relief Program emerged as a turning point in Ms. Eva’s story. With the safety and support of the program, Ms. Eva focused on finding permanent housing. She reached out to property managers and completed applications. The day Ms. Eva moved into her new senior apartment was more than just a change of address; it was a symbolic move towards safety and a new beginning. In her new home she pays a set portion of her income in rent, offering her a sense of security that she had not experienced in a long time. Ms. Eva’s life is a testament not only to the human capacity for resilience and determination, but also to the transformative impact of community support. To learn more about Ms. Eva’s story, the Winter Relief Program, or how to help others like her go to https://city.fremont.gov/48b94vO.
