The City of Fremont Human Services Department’s Aging and Family Services (AFS) Division and Youth and Family Services (YFS) Division have launched an art contest for older adults (55+ years old) and youth (5-21 years old) in celebration of Older Americans Month and National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. The art contest aims to raise awareness about the importance of mental wellness and reduce the stigma around mental health. The art and power of creative writing also has a positive effect on each artist, as well as individuals who connect with their pieces. A joint exhibit recognizing both age group’s contest winners and honorable mention artists, will be held on May 8, 2025.
The theme of this year’s art contest is “Learning From One Another”. Entry categories include fine art, creative writing, or digital art (youth group only). To promote the spirit of youth and older adult members learning from one another, an intergenerational category was added requiring the art submission be created jointly by a member of both age groups. The deadline for submission is Friday, April 4th. For more details, please visit city.fremont.gov/artshow25
