BECOME A COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR TODAY!

The Community Ambassador Program for Seniors (CAPS) is an award-winning program that builds capacity to serve seniors in their own communities, in their own language, within their own cultural norms, and does so where seniors live, worship, socialize, play, and learn.

The volunteer program assists seniors to learn about available resources which could improve their independence, dignity, and quality of life. Ambassadors serve as a bridge between the formal network of social services and cultural, faith-based, and community affiliations.

As an ambassador, you will be trained to provide information and assistance to Tri-City older adults, their families, and caregivers. Topics covered include transportation, healthy aging, social security benefits, health benefits, legal, immigration services, and more!

It is the volunteers’ compassion for others that drives them to commit a few hours of their time each month for this important and worthy effort.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am—4:30pm 510-742-7540

To join CAPS, sign up for the next CAPS training or for more information, contact Mercel Amin at 510-574-2063 or email mamin@fremont.gov.

The next two-day CAPS training will be held in Fremont on Wednesday, March 5th and March 19th.

SPAY/NEUTER AWARENESS

February is recognized as Spay/Neuter Awareness Month. World Spay Day was established to inspire individuals to save animal lives through the spaying and neutering. World Spay Day is celebrated each year on the fourth Tuesday of February (2/25/25). Animal welfare advocates worldwide take the opportunity to highlight the significant benefits of these procedures. Increased access to spay/neuter services in communities leads to a decrease in stray animal populations. By spaying or neutering your pets and feral cats, you can help lessen the number of animals in need of homes. For more information on spaying or neutering your pet, contact East Bay SPCA at eastbayspca.org

TRAVEL MORE SAFELY IN YOUR WHEELCHAIR!

Ride-On Tri-City! has a partnership with AC Transit to provide its Wheelchair Marking and Tether Strap Program to Tri-City area residents. AC Transit will offer appointments for its Wheelchair Marking and Tether Strap service at the Ride-On Tri-City office (Fremont City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave. Building B, Fremont) on Friday, February 28th from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. To schedule an appointment, call Ride-On Tri-City at: 510-574-2053.
