James Carlton (J.C.) Boles, 1946-2022 James Carlton Boles was born May 13, 1946 to Margaret Estelle Boles (nee’ Doggett) and James Carlston Boles in Butler, Alabama. He was the oldest of his 3 siblings and went by his initials, J.C. He attended school in Sebastopol, Mississippi before transferring to Scott Central High School in Forest, Mississippi his senior year. He was involved in many activities, including sports, F.F.A., Annual Staff, Who’s Who, and was voted Class Favorite and Most Handsome.

Shortly after graduating from Scott Central High School in 1965, he joined the Mississippi Army National Guard. While attending technical school for electronics with the National Guard he was recruited by Texas Instruments headquartered in Dallas, Texas. He accepted the position working in the Defense division of T.I. and also transferred his military service to the Texas Air National Guard. He built a 35 year long career at T.I. starting in the Paveway laser-guided bomb division supporting our troops in the Vietnam War. J.C. made many lifelong friends while working at T.I. that he kept in contact with up until his passing. The most beloved friendship he made at T.I. was with Vera Chapa, who would become his loving wife. J.C. and Vera married on January 31, 1969. Together they built a family of four, Vicki in 1970 and Melissa in 1976 in Allen, Texas and eventually moved to their current home in Sherman, Texas in 1982. J.C. had many interests and passions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, antiques, bird watching, classic cars but most of all spending time with his family. One of his passions after retirement was Old Blue, his 1936 Ford pickup. He and Vera traveled all over the United States and even into Canada. He was a member of The Early Ford V8 Club of America, Dallas, Texas chapter where he served as President for two years. He was also a “Renaissance Man” (a person with many talents or areas of knowledge). He could make the most beautiful dessert, work on complicated
J.C. Boles electronics, build or fix anything you needed. He was his family’s personal “MacGyver”. Give him some duct tape and a paperclip and he could make anything. He was always learning and doing. He loved people and he most definitely never met a stranger. His most favorite thing was to spoil “his girls”. As his daughters began their own families, the spoiling continued to all his “babies”. His heart was as big as the state he adopted as his home for the last 55 years. J.C. is survived by his wife Vera of almost 53 years, daughter Vicki and husband Rick Troy. Daughter Melissa and husband Michael Rider. His grandchildren: Morgan and husband Joseph Rodgers, Paige McEldowney, Emma and Eva Rider. Bonusgrandchildren Taylynn and Derian Troy. Great-grandchildren Hadley and Waylon Rodgers and Adeline Hayes. His beloved sisters and their spouses, Mildred and Mike Newsom and Gloria and Bill Kessinger. His cousin he considered a brother, Robert Boles, Sr. (Cuz) and his family. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents James Carlston and Margaret Estelle Boles, brother Tim Boles, and nephew Bobby Blount.
