The Howe 3rd and 4th grade Bulldogs. Courtesy photo. 1st and 2nd grade The 1st and 2nd grade Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to S&S 33-31 on Saturday in Howe. The little Bulldogs played their tails off, but just came up a little short. They will get back to work this week as they face off against Blue Ridge on Saturday in S&S at noon to kickoff the playoffs. 3rd and 4th grade The 3rd and 4th grade Bulldogs played a hard-fought match against the S&S Rams on Saturday in Collinsville. The Rams struck first with a touchdown run to put them up 6-0. The Bulldogs rallied to tie the game 6-6 thanks to a touchdown run by Sean Douglas. The Rams then scored again to make the score 12-6. The game came down to the final play. With the ball on the Bulldogs 40 yard line, and six seconds left, Sean Douglas took the ball around the edge, and it appeared he might score, but it wasn’t to be - Douglas was pushed out of bounds at the 10 yard line to end the game. The Bulldogs will regroup and prepare for a rematch on Saturday at noon against the Rams in Bells, as the playoffs begin.
5th and 6th grade The 5th and 6th grade Bulldogs squared off against the S&S Rams on Saturday in Trenton and took home a 26-0 win. The Bulldogs started slow, but soon things started rolling when Kaiden Thomas ran 50 yards for the games first score and then returned an interception for a touchdown on the Rams’ next possession. Deacon Bender then followed that up with two touchdowns of his own, one on the ground and one through the air. Quarterback Aiden Kane threw for 123 yards on the day. Receiver Jagger Black had a great game with three catches for 66 yards. Receiver Caden Crosson also had three catches for 43 yards. The defense was fierce, led by Samantha Fuhr who had numerous tackles and sacks. There were numerous standouts on defense including Kayden Ross, Deacon Bender, Luke Ellison, Jackson Culp, Carson McNutt and defensive captain Cruz Garcia. The Bulldogs will prepare this week for the Blue Ridge Tigers, who they will play in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday at noon in Howe.
