The Howe Lady Bulldogs (2-6) had a rough week by losing to Gunter 11-0 and to Blue Ridge 13 -5 after leading until the fifth inning. On Tuesday, Railyn Murphy got the start in the circle for Howe and pitched 4.1 innings of work, giving up five earned runs on six hits. She walked four and gave up one home run. Micaiah Franklin came in relief and pitched one inning allowing no earned runs while giving up three hits. Ryleigh Craven pitched the final two outs and walked two. Howe only had one base hit in the game, and it was a single by Alexia Womack. She was the only base runner for Howe as Gunter’s Rhyan Pogue struck out 16 Lady Bulldogs and walked none in her six innings in the circle. On Friday, Howe got a crooked number on the board in the fourth inning with a 4-spot thanks to an
error that scored Chloe Scoggins, a 2-run single by Fuhr and an RBI single by Hannah Dwyer. But the Lady Tigers came back with two runs in the top of the third before eventually taking a 9-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning. Howe got back on the board in the sixth inning on a fielder’s choice that scored Scoggins. Blue Ridge added four more in the seventh inning to round out the game. Emery Snapp lead Howe with a 2 -for-3 night with a run scored. Scoggins was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Murphy went 4.1 innings allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits and three walks. Franklin relieved her and allowed two earned runs.
