Summit Hill Elementary School Principal Clarissia Doty stated that they've added a backpack section for parents that aren't aware that they need to check the student's backpack for items such as knives, toys, and even sometimes mom and dad's cellphones. The bell schedules times have changed to 8:05 am to 3:25 pm and pre-kindergarten will be from 8 am to 11:10 am and 12 pm to 3:10 pm. The earlier times for preK is to assure that they are out of the way of the buses and traffic. A birthday section was added to the handbook stating that parents can send a birthday treat for the student but it must be in an unopened commercially-named packaged product with listed ingredients. This is to guard against food allergies. The teacher will give the treat to the kid at the end of the day and parents are not invited into the classroom.
