Howe second graders learn through LEGOS

Howe second grade students showed their LEGO projects to the Howe ISD Board of Trustees on Monday. Second-grade teacher Alicia Wilson gave a presentation to the Howe ISD Board of Trustees on Monday night along with some of her students which showed how they can use the "toys" to learn to skills.

program was great for problemsolving and making new friends as well as making simples machines and motors. A couple of students displayed an intricate project which was a windmill to generate power.

"What the LEGO program is all visual and problem-solving without instructions," said Wilson. "This is good for social interaction as well as learning engineering qualities."

Wilson said the students use an app on an iPad that they can upload videos of their projects and interact with their parents and friends about what they are learning because they were not able to take the LEGO projects home.

One student showed the board a lawnmower made of LEGOs with gears and wheels which set off a chain reaction for other gears and connections. Another student said that the
