Howe sweeps MVP honors for All-District 10-3A

Howe ISD officially opposes possible charter school Local Independent School Districts have pushed back on a non-profit organization called Frontier Education Foundation that is hoping to open a charter school in Whitewright. Recently filing with the TEA (Texas Education Agency), the school is hoping to open for the 2020-2021 school year. Recently, the TEA sent impact statement letters to 28 nearby school districts that would most certainly be impacted. The letter estimated that the charter school would estimate over 1,000 students in the fifth year of existence which is larger than the majority of school districts in Grayson County.
Howe ISD Superintendent Kevin Wilson discussed the situation with the school board on Monday night and made his concerns evident and stated that the area superintendents have met multiple times and signed a superintendent resolution opposing it. "There's a lot of reasons why," said Wilson. "This particular one, in my mind, the major concerns that I have is that the appearance is that they are trying to establish a private church school under the name of a charter school."
