The Howe Enterprise takes home inaugural Hugh Aynesworth Award from the Dallas Press Club. Howe Bulldogs open basketball season by finishing third in S&S tourney. Peyton Streetman scores 29 in win over Muenster. Alli Morgan finished as State Finalist for Job Interview and Jenna Honore, Kacie Morgan, and Molly Wilson finished fourth in state as a team for Agriculture Advocacy. Former Howe ISD Superintendent Dr. Wayne King passes away. Santa Claus spent Dec. 9 in Howe with Breakfast with Santa, Storytime with Santa, and the annual Christmas parade. Connor Jackson leads a HHS Interact Club that makes a big contribution to local kids in need for Christmas. Lady Bulldogs opened district play with a loss to Leonard, 54-50. The Bulldogs appear to be much improved with early season wins in the Madill Tournament. HMS Teacher and Coach Drew Borselino organizes a coat donation to Peggy's Porch. Feed My Sheep ended the year by distributing over 77,000 pounds of food. Keep Howe Beautiful and the Howe Fire Department work together to light
an evergreen tree in Memorial Park. Finisar announces 500 new jobs in their new location in the former MEMC building. Howe gets news that they will remain one of the smallest Class 3A, Division I football schools. Andrew Griffin, Cameron Blesi, and Cade Courtney were named first team all-district in football. Lady Bulldogs take down Commerce and Lone Oak in district play. Bulldogs lose nail-biter to Bells, but rebound to open district with win. Michael Portman named Howe Youth Baseball Commissioner for 2018-2020. Howe Fire Department delivers presents and food to local family. Student versus teacher basketball games raises over $750 for American Heart Association. Mayor Stanley recaps 2017 with message that Howe wants to remain Howe. Over 200 Howe area homes were lit for Christmas. Vandals broke into Baker's Dozen Donuts in Howe. City sees six percent increase in sales tax revenue for 2017. All in all, it was one fine year.
