Howe Fire Department delivers presents and food to a local family in need for Christmas

Food and gifts that were delivered to a local family. Those that attended the annual Breakfast with Santa event on Dec. 9, the morning of the parade, helped provide a very Merry Christmas to a local family in need. In order to be able to eat the sausage, bacon, and pancake meal, patrons were asked to bring a toy or pay $5 to enter. The result was an overwhelming amount of food and gifts that were delivered to the local Howe family on Tuesday evening.

"This year we have a family of four children and we send Santa over there to talk with every child and listens to them," said Mary Jones of the Howe Fire Department. "We then give them gifts and a meal for them to have
"We have gone to see families that were so needy that they didn't have furniture much less Christmas decorations," said Jones. "We went back and bought a tree and bought decorations for the kids to hang up."
The fire department had some money left over so they gave the mom a gift card for to be able to buy more food. Jones says that the fire department has been doing this for a number of years and at least since 2005 when she joined the force. The delivery can sometimes get emotional for all involved.
