Howe wins first district game

Brandon Wall races for a loose ball. Photo by Keri Harvey The Howe Bulldogs rode the back of Ty Harvey for their first district win at Farmersville on Tuesday night. Harvey scored an impressive 30 points in the win but even more impressive could be the 14 points in the fourth quarter. Elijah Campbell also had a great scoring game with his 15 points. Howe found themselves down, 2215 after the first period and 34-31 at the half. However the Bulldogs outscored the Farmers by five in the third quarter and 20-19 in the

fourth to come back for the win. Other scorers were Brent Masters and Brandon Wall with seven each. Ty Hawkins finished with five and Seth Seibold added two. On Friday night, Howe took the momentum to Van Alstyne and nearly knocked off the rival, falling short, 45-41. Harvey led Howe with 12 points followed by Masters and Wall's eight. Others were Campbell (5), Seibold (4), Hawkins (2), and Hunter Cheatham (2).

On Tuesday night, Howe won at Farmersville easily with a final score of 69-27. Four different Lady Bulldogs finished in double-digits as Callie Vick led the team with 15 points. Peyton Streetman followed closely with 14 and Landry Rhoten closed out her night with 13. Payton Griffin hit the double-digit mark with 10 points to add to her game-leading seven rebounds. Other scorers were Ally Harvey (5), Jenna Honore (4), Kayla Anderson (2), Kamryn Fulenchek (2), Madisyn Hargrove (1), Emily Sanders (1).

The game was a massacre from the beginning with Howe leading, 20-9 after the first period and eventually taking a 44-12 halftime lead. Head Coach Derek Lands took the foot off the gas in the second half and cruised to the 69-27 win. The Lady Bulldogs also took down rival Van Alstyne on Friday night with a 58-35 win. Streetman led the girls with 11 points while Vick followed closely with 10. Hargrove added nine with Sanders chipping in seven. Other scorers were Honore (6), Rhoten (5), Harvey (4), Fulenchek (3), Anderson (2), and Griffin (1).
