Dwyer makes All-State in band competition

Kaylee Dwyer As if Kaylee Dwyer wasn't already having a senior year that most girls only dream about, she added to the staggering list of accomplishments over the weekend. Dwyer was named to the Association of Texas Small Schools All-State Band as clarinet at the Area North competitions in Argyle. "I'm pretty excited because I've been trying to get into the AllState Band since I've been in high school. This is a pretty big deal and I finally did it." said Dwyer.

She's considering a music career but hasn't exactly decided for sure. At the area completion over the weekend, she said there was a lot of great clarinet players. "We were in the holding room and we get one minute practices between every five people." said Dwyer. "You can hear everyone practicing and some of them are a little intimidating and I was getting a little nervous in there."
The process starts with all-region tryouts and Dwyer made a high enough score to reach the area round. The ATSSB takes seven clarinets from region to area and then five from area to all-state.
