editors letter Welcome to the October Edition of House of Beverly. I am so excited to publish this issue, because it marks the sixth month celebration of House of Beverly Magazine. Since October is all about #SpookySeason, I wanted to make this issue about embracing our fears and change. Our lives are ever-evolving, and that can be absolutely terrifying. So, embrace the changes that comes your way. Who knows what this spooky season might bring. :)

Growing up is something we cannot control. It can be scary watching time pass you by. Although while I started to think
about my future, I thought how I shouldn’t be afraid of what’s in store for me, I should be excited and eager to grow through my life. Nowadays, college applications are due, and people are
making life changing decisions. While that could bring a lot of stress it is very important that you should be able to relax and not overwhelm yourself. Anytime I start to feel myself get
stressed out I go on a drive or I put my work down and listen to some music before I jump back into the swing of things. It is really important to maintain your own mental health and happiness, but it can sometimes get lost on your giant list of
things to do. Just remember to stay happy, healthy, and safe at all times.

OUTFITS BY: MADISON COCHRAN It’s finally fall! If you’re anything like me, you’re looking forward to watching all the Halloweentown movies on repeat, drinking apple cider, and wearing baggy sweaters again. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve always kind of liked fall because of those baggy sweaters. Sure, they’re warm and cozy. But more importantly, you can hide yourself in them. I’ve been hiding myself in sweaters for years. But this year I’m starting to realize that I don’t have to - and neither do you. We all have those outfits that we love in our room and then immediately take off to change into something safer. You know you look good in it, so why do you always take it off? Because you’re scared. Scared of how other people might think you look - maybe you think you can’t pull it off, or it’s not on trend anymore. I would tell you to just not care what other people think of you, but I know that’s much easier said than done. So instead, I’m going to tell you the things that have helped me embrace my own style - and my body.
B | 30
1
FILL YOUR FEED WITH INCLUSIVE INFLUENCERS It really wasn’t until I downloaded TikTok that I found fashion
influencers my size. On Instagram, you really have to search for diversity, but on TikTok, it just turns up on your For You Page.
Some of my favorites for fashion and body positivity are Chloe Skye, Lauren Guerra, Lauren Licup, and Madison Beltran. I’m going to be honest here - this was a game-changer for me.
Once I surrounded myself with media centered around body-
positive and fashionable girls, my entire view of myself became more positive. This really helped to show me that style is for everyone, regardless of body type.
2
WEAR THE OUTFIT ANYWAYS - JUST DON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE.
3
This may sound counterproductive, but it’s a good first step towards wearing whatever you want, wherever you want. It’s important to remember that the clothes you wear are supposed to make you and only you happy - so why not wear an outfit you love around the house? This’ll get you used to wearing something that makes you uncomfortable in a place that you’re comfortable in.
NOW LEAVE YOUR HOUSE. Will you be uncomfortable the first time you leave your house in a “risky” outfit? Absolutely. But I promise, it gets easier after that. Start with low-risk places (the grocery store or a friend’s house) and then work yourself up to more anxiety-ridden places. And remember - you look great!
