Holiday House, founded in 2008 by interior designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner, is an interior design showhouse where top interior designers and lifestyle brands showcase their talent to raise critical funds for the prevention and cure of breast cancer.

Iris Dankner was inspired to combine her two passions — interior design and fundraising for breast cancer research — when she saw a lack of high profile interior design events in the New York City area benefitting this great cause. After its inception in 2008, Holiday House became the first designer show house in New York City to benefit a breast cancer organization, attracting talented designers from across the country to transform the historic Academy Mansion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side each fall and later moving to other luxury locations around the city. Following its success in New York, Holiday House created a summer expansion in the Hamptons and is now established as one of the premiere show houses in the country.

This year Holiday House is celebrating 15 years of remarkable accomplishments including 13 Designer Showhouses in NYC, 5 Designer Showhouses in the Hamptons, 1 Designer Showhouse in London, 3 Tabletop Events in NYC, the Hamptons and Palm Beach, 4 Virtual Showhouses with Hamptons Magazine, Modern Luxury Magazine and HGTV, and Holiday House: Ten Years of Decorating for a Cure, a beautiful coffee table book documenting Holiday House’s history from Pointed Leaf Press. Iris is also celebrating twenty six years as a breast cancer survivor!

Iris currently serves as a member of the advisory board of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) while her interior design show house, Holiday House, directly benefits the organization. Since partnering with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF), Holiday House has granted almost 2 million dollars to this renowned charity that invests 91 cents of every dollar to support its mission of ending breast cancer by advancing the world’s most groundbreaking research.

As the saying goes: “It’s great to be back!” After three years of tabletop events and “virtual showhouses” due primarily to the pandemic, the Holiday House Designer Showhouse is finally returning as a live event in the Hamptons, where it belongs. The showhouse will come to life in a magnificent, brand new, modern residence, magically transformed by more than 20 designers showcasing their talents and creating their visions of the ultimate East End lifestyle. It has been highly anticipated and will be, I’m sure, one of Holiday Houses’ most successful designer showhouses.

But let’s not forget what Holiday House is all about. An opportunity to raise funds to help in the fight against breast cancer and to raise awareness in confronting and, hopefully, extinguishing this deadly disease. I’m honored that the Holiday House supports The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), which is doing such critical work to make the end of breast cancer a reality in our lifetimes.

At every Holiday House event, I meet many people who share sometimes tragic but often inspiring stories about how their lives or the lives of loved ones have been

changed by the scourge of breast cancer. These stories give much meaning to everything I do and make all the hard work and effort fulfilling and worthwhile.

This is my 15th year producing Holiday House Showhouses and I am so thankful to the design community for helping me grow this incredible event over the years. To the designers, sponsors, donors, manufacturers, contractors, painters, electricians, and so many more involved in this year’s showhouse... On behalf of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, I’m pleased to welcome you to Holiday House. It’s an honor to be at the helm of this extraordinary organization, especially at such a revolutionary moment in breast cancer research.

BCRF is proud to be the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide. With the help of supporters like you, we have the privilege of funding 255 brilliant researchers in 14 countries who are working tirelessly to achieve breakthroughs in all areas of the disease. Their discoveries are nothing short of inspiring.

Through the commitment of our generous supporters, BCRF investigators have been part of every major breakthrough in breast cancer research such as Herceptin, the oncotype, and TAILORx –all tools and treatments that have reduced unnecessary toxicities and provided better patient outcomes. In the last 7 years alone, the FDA has approved 15 new breast cancer treatments – 10 of them for metastatic breast cancer – based on the clinical findings of BCRF investigators and others. Thanks to research, breast cancer deaths have declined by 43% over the last three decades.

However, our work is far from over. Women and men alike are still receiving breast cancer diagnoses daily. Until the number of people impacted by breast cancer is zero, we will continue this vital work. Thanks to friends like you, we know we are far from alone in our mission.

Iris’ personal life story is uplifting and her year in and year out dedication to breast cancer awareness has a profound affect in supporting research and care for breast cancer survivors.

I have been involved as a supporting designer from the inception of Holiday House and have always thought it important adjunct to the showhouse world. For too long there were scant venues to support both designers and the Trade. We, as designers, could not do this important work without support from the trade community. The showhouse provides a free press and advertising opportunity for the trade and to have direct access to the consumer.

Finally, Iris tirelessly seeks new partnerships and advertising opportunities to support the showhouses, connecting designers with companies and providing, uniquely, a support network for the up-andcoming designers!

Melanie Roy’s passion for the creative arts drew her into interior design as a second career. Elizabeth Dow is widely known for her textiles and hand painted wall coverings. Fifteen of her papers are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. Installations include Paul Simon, Harrison Ford, Bill Gates, Estee Lauder, Tiffany and Company, The Peninsula Hotel, and the Oval Office. Elizabeth Dow began as a minimal color field painter preferring paper to canvas. After working as a studio artist, her career path led her to the restoration of historic ceiling and wall paintings within Museum Houses throughout the country. She held a number of artist-in-residence positions including five years at Saks Fifth Avenue where she worked on commissioned artwork for their permanent collection. In 1992, Elizabeth created the Elizabeth Dow Mixed Media collection of wall coverings and textiles that are now sold in trade showrooms internationally.

Elizabeth maintains ties to the art community curating shows and working with schools and not-for-profit organizations developing educational programming. She has taught at both Pratt Institute and The Parson’s School in NY, and was the former director for the Applied Arts School in Amagansett, NY. Elizabeth has sponsored artists in residency programs and continues to provide workspace for artists. Dow’s paintings are visual snapshots of nature and reflection that explore the delicate balance of color, motion, and surface. Her paintings are in numerous corporate and private collections worldwide. Elizabeth is a permanent resident of East Hampton where she works and lives.

Knowing her Mom’s time was limited, Becky wanted to honor her mom and their shared love of design by using her mom’s nickname Lola in her company.

Campion Platt and Kim Dent are frequent collaborators on interior and architectural projects, having met as undergraduates at University of Michigan’s school of design.

Campion Platt has thirty years of experience in the field, training at Columbia University’s school of architecture and going on to become a leader in New York’s design scene. He’s been ranked as an Architectural Digest Top 100 interior designer, leading global projects in celebrity interiors and luxury hospitality. His work has been published in Architectural Digest and Elle Decor.

Kim Dent is a Metro-Detroit based interior designer with fifteen years of experience in the field. She started her career in advertising as a Creative Director, leading art direction and set design for international fashion brands. Starting with full home renovations for friends, Kim followed local demand to transition her career into a full-time interiors business for high-end residential and commercial renovations.

Kim Radovich is the Principal of Kim Radovich Interiors; her full-service design firm specializes in both residential and commercial projects. A self proclaimed design addict, Riki Wagh’s design work has run the gamut from designing residential, hospitality, commercial and healthcare.
